Some time ago, we announced the IN SITU summer school. We are now delighted to invite you to the Horizons of Sustainability #conference, that will take place right after the summer school in Šibenik, #Croatia. The event will focus on rural and non-urban communities that are especially vulnerable in times of crisis due to limited resources and depopulation. By adopting a broad and forward-looking perspective, we'll explore opportunities for positive, lasting changes in less urbanised areas through creative and cultural initiatives. As we approach the end of the conference, we are thrilled to officially introduce our newly-elected #Board 🥁 🔸 Heartfelt congratulations to new Chairperson Vittorio Bianco from DireFareBaciare and Rete Delle Case del Quartiere, and Co-Chairperson Leen Vanderschueren from cult! 🔸 A warm welcome to the Board to: Lapo Bettarini, from La Concertation ASBL Action Culturelle Bruxelloise; Heather O'Donnell, from TGR The Green Room; Dagmar Bednáriková, from KD Mlejn; Aleksi Valta, from Suomen lastenkulttuurikeskusten liitto. 🔸 Congratulations also to Piotr Michałowski, supported by Teatr Na Walizkach, who was re-elected by our members for a new mandate. 🔸 Continuing their mandate for the second term: Daniel Azzopardi, from Spazju Kreattiv; Milan Vracar, from Asocijacija Kulturanova / Association Kulturanova; and adjunct Board Member Piet Forger. 🔸 And last but not least, the Board unanimously chose to award founder of the network and former Chairperson Ivo Peeters the title of honorary Chairperson in light of his long-time dedication and great work. Here's to four years of great cooperation at the service of socio-culture!

📣 New resource alert 📣 Our research on "Just Sustainability from the Heart of Communities: the Transformative Power of Socio-Cultural Centres" was the first to explore the roles of European socio-cultural centres in just #sustainability transitions. The final #report is finally out, featuring an evidence-based mapping of the different transition roles, as well as recommendations for policymakers, funders, networks, and cultural organisations. On the afternoon of day two, culture and well-being professional Kim Taewon will introduce us to Korean seated meditation, a practice that, "in the mind, calms misleading thoughts and manifests the true nature, and, in the body, causes the fiery energy to descend and the watery energy to ascend".
