A few weeks ago, UniSuper once again hosted our career development expo across each of our state offices. With a theme focusing on ‘The Future of Work’, this year's expo included interactive workshops, panel discussions, and networking sessions where employees had the chance to learn from each other, share their experiences, and explore their career aspirations. It gave employees the chance to develop new skills and connect with colleagues across the organisation.   The Melbourne session featured a keynote speech from Dr Asheley Jones, an expert on the impact of technology, innovation, and globalisation of the workforce. She shared her insights on the skills and opportunities that will shape the future of work, and how UniSuper can prepare its employees for the changes that lie ahead.   With events like this career expo, we want to demonstrate our genuine investment in our people and exemplify the value of learning and growth that we’re committed to making available to each employee.   Thank you to all who all who spoke, organised, and participated for making this year's event such a success.

After a pretty intense few weeks at work, I have finally come up for air and wanted to post about my recent week at the FEAL Emerging Leaders Program at Melbourne Business School. I really wasn’t sure what to expect but was blown away by the extraordinary talent of Vivek Chaudhri, Geoff Martin, Don O'Sullivan, Nadia Massoud and Yalcin Akcay. Their passion for their work was clearly evident, though we probably could have done with slightly less of Vivek’s passion for the Tigers at the start of every session. Over the week we deep dived into Leadership, Innovation, Change Management, People Management, Strategy, Marketing, Finance, Project Management, and Navigating Uncertain Futures. As a leader who is keen to keep growing my executive career this week was invaluable. I had the opportunity to talk to my industry peers and understand where I am doing well and where I need to grow. The highlight? It’s hard to pick one, but I’ve not stopped thinking about what our ‘Moat’ is at UniSuper and what I can do to grow it. I also have to give a a huge shoutout to 1886 Consulting for sponsoring the MBS Emerging Leaders Scholarship which made it possible for me to attend. I am so grateful for their support. Thanks again to everyone who attended, Melbourne Business School for hosting and the amazing Fund Executives Association Limited for making it all possible.

At UniSuper, we know that good financial advice can make a real difference. Our dedicated advisers and their teams work hard each day to make sure our members are on track for a great retirement. This is why we would like to proudly congratulate a number of our advice professionals who received awards and nominations at Financial Newswire's Women in Wealth Awards 2024 last night.   Veronica M. took home the Paraplanner of the Year award, which recognised how integral she is to the delivery of high-quality advice and strategy to our members.   And Renae Anderson was highly commended as the runner-up for the Superannuation Professional of the Year award, which recognised her as an outstanding female professional in the superannuation sector.   We also saw Renee Zimmermann (Bilske) CFP and Melinda Brown nominated for Financial Planner of the Year, and Emily Monk nominated for the 2024 Rising Star award.   Congratulations to our five remarkable winners and nominees. Thank you for the work you deliver every day to help our members create futures worth retiring for, and for all that you do to make UniSuper the home for advice professionals.

On behalf of my UniSuper team across Australia, we were proud to be finalists in nine categories at Chant West’s Super Fund Awards last night. UniSuper is an exceptional fund, and that was recognised through our nominations in each of these nine categories. In particular, it was good to place in the top three for Pension Fund of the Year 2024. UniSuper will continue to be an industry leader in retirement as we build on our hyper personalised experiences, which are driven by member insights and designed to suit each unique retirement goal. Thank you to Chant West for the nominations and recognition, and to the entire UniSuper team for keeping their focus on our members at every turn. #UniSuper #Superannuation #ChantWest

Treasurer Jim Chalmers' 2024 Federal Budget produced few surprises for superannuation, delivered with cost-of-living challenges at front of mind. Following advocacy from UniSuper and the industry, the Government has confirmed that parents accessing Commonwealth-funded paid parental leave will receive superannuation on top of their payments from 1 July 2025. This announcement builds on their plans to provide an additional six weeks of government-funded parental leave that will be made available to families by 1 July 2026, taking the total number of available weeks to 26. We're proud to have been a part of the push alongside many in our industry for this equity measure to be adopted. In an update shared on our website and emailed to members, our Chief Executive Officer Peter Chun has confirmed that the progressive restoration of our member services will begin Thursday, 9 May 2024. Services that we expect to have online in some capacity will include the ability to login to online services, access Mobile App, and see balances—initially as at Monday, 29 April 2024. As regular trading and investments have been continuing as normal, this will be reflected in your balance once our systems have been restored.    We will keep members informed as systems progressively come online. We commit to members receiving updates on the progressive restoration of services, and again, thank you for your patience.  We have collated some frequently asked questions, including around lump sum withdrawals, investment switches and the operation of investments during this outage.     For up to date information, including answers to frequently asked questions, and to read Peter's full update, please visit our website:    https://lnkd.in/enXxEzFT
