On the podcast this week, we're speaking to Katharine Kemp - Associate Professor at UNSW Law & Justice and Deputy Director of the UNSW Allens Hub for Technology, Law and Innovation. Our conversation with Dr Kemp explores how privacy and competition policy concerns are increasingly coming together. We also discuss Dr Kemp’s recent research into the level of control and understanding consumers have about how their information is collected and used (with the Consumer Policy Research Centre). w/ Arjun Ramachandran https://lnkd.in/gnvGXSWu

elevenM is a specialist privacy and cyber security consultancy.
About us
Digital innovation is integral to maintaining Australia’s growth and prosperity. The digital market however, is largely based on trust. At elevenM, we feel the majority of that digital trust is built on an organisation’s ability to manage the privacy and security of their customer’s information. We started elevenM with a view of combining privacy and cyber security skills in a meaningful way. Our goal was to create a consultancy that helps clients monitor and protect their data throughout the entire data lifecycle. Allowing the client to build digital trust with their customers and ultimately drive competitive advantage. How we do it: elevenM works differently to other consultancies. Companies no longer want large teams of generalists, but rather deep subject matter experts who can help them achieve certain outcomes or support them for set periods of time. We work with some of the best and brightest minds in privacy and cyber security in Australia and abroad. Our model gives our clients access to top tier talent for a week, a month, a year or for a particular outcome. Our clients: We have worked with some of the biggest brands in Australia, ranging from top ASX-listed companies, to bright start-ups and government agencies. We are proud of the unique role we can play in building a prosperous digital Australia

In the most recent episode of our podcast, we break down the stoush between Elon Musk and Australia’s eSafety Commissioner. The standoff has opened up a conversation about the merits of regulating so-called harmful online content, and the extent to which doing so impinges on free speech. Jordan Wilson-Otto and Jonathan Gadir debate the pros and cons of the eSafety's orders and the feasibility of global takedown requests. https://lnkd.in/gheZv5_X

elevenM is excited to be leading the consortium delivering one of the Federal Government's new AI Adopt centres, as announced this morning by Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic MP. The centre will guide Australian small to medium sized businesses through the design and implementation of AI solutions, with a focus on workflow and governance solutions. AI holds great promise for Australian businesses and for the public at large. Deep work is also needed to build a firm foundation of trust in AI within the Australian community, by understanding and addressing the risks of harm. That’s why we are excited to be partnering with Atlassian, Microsoft, the UTS Human Technology Institute , KPMG, ACS (Australian Computer Society) and TDC Global in the delivery of this centre, which will guide and support Australian SMEs in the adoption of ethical and responsible AI. elevenM’s role as the lead organisation in the delivery of the AI Adopt centre builds on our expanding work in AI and data governance in recent years (See more: https://lnkd.in/gQiKREJJ), and more broadly on the full suite of services we provide across privacy and cyber security to support organisations in the confident and trustworthy adoption of digital technologies. 76% of Aus companies are overwhelmed by the amount of data they manage. If yours is one of them, you may want to consider implementing a retention and disposal schedule to help you manage data minimisation in an ongoing and holistic way.
