Tracking afternoon storms with more chances Tuesday

TODAY: Thunderstorm chances return from the west this afternoon. Storms arrive near Sedalia, Marshall, Brunswick, and Warsaw near 1-2 p.m. with greater chances near Columbia and Jefferson City by 3-5 p.m. Storms will near Montgomery City, Hermann, and Mexico from 5-7 p.m. Highs reach mid-80s, with enough humidity to have us feeling closer to low 90s.

TONIGHT: Behind these storms, skies will turn mostly dry, with clouds lingering, but becoming only partly cloudy. After midnight, more showers may work in from the southwest by sunrise.

EXTENDED: This contributes to a chance for morning showers generally near Sedalia, the lake region, to Columbia. Clouds then increase through the day, ahead of another round of storms Tuesday night. Likely after 7 p.m. we'll be watching a chance for storms along a cold front. Timing of this is uncertain exactly, but arrives generally after 7 p.m. and is gone by sunrise Wednesday. Highs on Tuesday reach mid-80s, but we'll be a few degrees cooler by Wednesday afternoon, with lower humidity as well. Skies are mostly sunny after clouds clear that morning. Sunshine and low humidity continue, with highs forecast in the low 80s, through Friday. Saturday and Sunday bring slight chances for rain.
