Mizzou crowns four All-Americans at NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. (KMIZ)

All four Mizzou Track and Field athletes who qualified for the NCAA Championships are leaving Hayward Field as All-Americans. Skylar Ciccolini and Mitchell Weber earned first-team All-American honors, and Kelsey Schweizer and Sterling Scott were named second-team All-Americans.

On the second day of NCAA championship action, Ciccolini posted a season-best throw of 55.06 meters in the javelin to take sixth place in the event. Meanwhile, Schweizer set a new school record in the 800-meter dash on the path to securing second-team All-American status for the first time in her college career. She recorded a time of 2:02.39 to claim 15th place overall and break a 24-year-old program record, originally set by Ashley Wong back in 2000 with a 2:02.94 time.

Weber and Scott closed out Mizzou's trip to the NCAA Championships on Friday. Weber finished in fourth place in the discus with a season-best 60.85-meter throw, and Scott placed 14th in the triple jump with a 15.80-meter leap, the eighth best jump in program history.

As a team, Mizzou currently sits in a tie for 21st place in the women's standings with an overall score of three points and ended the event in a tie for 48th place in the men's standings with five points.
