JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Jefferson City is seeking bids for potential contractors for a rebranding project for its 200th anniversary next year, the city wrote Friday on its Facebook page.

“We're on the hunt for graphic designers and marketing gurus to help give our beloved City a fresh look in time for Jefferson City's 200th birthday in 2025. Let's celebrate Jefferson City's rich history and bright future together and embrace a new visual identity for our community,” the post reads. “We encourage those with marketing and graphic design experience to check out the RFP at the link.”

The city clarified in comments in the Facebook post that its current logo would still be the city’s seal after the project. Proposals for the project must be submitted by 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27.

Documents available in the link state that factors in the evaluation will include cost, qualifications of the firm or submitter, “ability to demonstrate innovation, enthusiasm, and to develop fresh ideas,” and references and profile.

Documents state the city is “advocating for economic development and growth while maintaining the pillars of tradition and history.” It also states that its current branding “promotes a dated aesthetic.”

“Each City department uses their own logo and slogan. There is no cohesiveness within the City and with our 200th birthday coming in 2025, we want to spearhead a rebranding that creates unity and excitement around our community in Jefferson City, Missouri,” according to documents.

The City Council will ultimately approve bids for the project.
