Mozilla係一個自由軟件社群，本身係網景通訊公司嘅成員喺1998年創立。喺非正式嘅場合下，「Mozilla」呢個名會用喺不同嘅嘢上面。呢啲嘢大多數同已經執咗笠嘅網景通訊公司同Mozilla旗下嘅軟件相關。

一開始，「Mozilla」畀人攞嚟做網景領航員嘅開發代號。網景通訊公司希望網景領航員可以取代當時世界第一嘅Mosaic，而呢個名由「Mosaic Killa」（Killa係英文俚語入面Killer的拼法）變化而嚟[1]，仲同經典嘅虛擬怪物哥斯拉諧音：「Godzilla eat the Mosaic」，即係Mosaic + Godzilla + Killa = Mozilla[2][3]，Netscape工程師Jamie Zawinski話佢係喺一次Netscape員工會議入面諗到呢個名嘅[4][5]。
