Part of our commitment to sustainability includes reusing what we have. It was great to have Taking Care of Business at our HQ recently, where our people could bring their clothes to be repaired and redesigned into something new 💚
🌟 We're thrilled to share our recent experience at Woolworths' Good Business Journey showcase at their Cape Town Head offices! 🌟 ♻️Woolworths is one of our retail partners, they donate excess fashion stock that help us achieve our mission of empowering unemployed South Africans to become self-employed business owners. Last week we were able to showcase Taking Care of Business’ part in Woolworths' circulatory strategy which aligns perfectly with their commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. 🧵During the showcase, our Remake participants had the opportunity to offer Woolworths staff the chance to bring in their favourite damaged clothing items for repair or transformation. Over the course of three days, we were able to fix an incredible 72 items, bringing huge smiles to everyone involved. 💚 A heartfelt thank you to Woolworths for opening your doors to us and for your ongoing support. Special thanks to Sethu Mchithakali, a dedicated Remake trainer, and the talented Remake ladies for their hard work and dedication. 🤝At TCB, we believe in the power of collaboration and positive impact, and we're grateful to be part of Woolworths' Good Business Journey as they strive to become one of the world's most responsible retailers. #GoodBusinessJourney #Sustainability #CommunityImpact #CircularEconomy

On Youth Day last year, we kicked off the search for young South African makers and creators who are going places. Our Youth Makers Competition was launched to help young entrepreneurs take their businesses to the next level. 30 finalists were invited to pitch their business to a panel of judges who were looking for fresh thinking, commercial viability, and sustainability. 15 winners were chosen, we struck gold! Our winners are being mentored by experts at Woolies. They’ve been learning the ins and outs of retail, business acumen, product development and marketing. Soon they’ll have access to Woolies customers and, most excitingly, they’ve each been given R130 000 to grow their ventures. Look out for the big announcement tomorrow, when we unveil our 15 winners 👏

Meet Ndzalama Chabalala, a 21-year-old with a passion for sustainable agriculture! His transformative journey began at the Living Soils Community Learning Farm, a partnership between Woolworths, The Sustainability Institute, and Spier Wine Farm. Through his internship, Ndzalama discovered the power of sustainable practices and the importance of healthy soil for future generations. He was also inspired by Living Soils' deep commitment to animal welfare and pesticide-free vegetables. Thanks to the programme’s networking opportunities, Ndzalama now works at the Spier Wine Farm food garden, honing his skills under the guidance of experienced farmers, and his passion for sustainable agriculture continues to grow. We’re proud to support young individuals like Ndzalama who are shaping the future of sustainable farming in the country. Congratulations, Ndzalama! Read more: https://lnkd.in/d84THrWX
