Biography

National Crossborder Coordinator, Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS), Epidemiologist and Safeguard Specialist, Integrated Health Project Administrative Unit (IHPAU).

Christiana Monica Fortune studied Environmental Health and Environmental Science at the School of Graduate Studies, University Putra, Malaysia. She is trained in Infectious diseases in Sierra Leone.

In 2017, Christiana Monica Fortune was appointed National cross border coordinator by the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (Sierra Leone) where she developed a cross border surveillance system in Sierra Leone, Planning and coordinating cross border surveillance meetings with counterparts and coordinating all cross-border activities. Before that, she has been the coordinator for Water and sanitation and Waste management in the Directorate of Environmental Health and Sanitation (Sierra Leone). She is currently the Port health International Health Regulations (IHR) Focal Person for MOHS and POE lead at the national technical team for COVID 19 response. She is also a member of the IHR Review Committee that was convened by WHO Sierra Leone.

Christiana Monica Fortune has an interest in Public health and played a role in setting up the Emergency center at British Council to coordinate the response to the 2014 Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone.  In 2016, she was appointed Environmental and Social Safeguards Focal and Head for the Ministry of Health and Sanitation working with World Bank, where she facilitated Safeguard activities, developed and implemented safeguard documents. Presently, she is a Safeguard specialist at IHPAU where she develops safeguard instruments.
