Muniba Mazari

As UN Women’s National Goodwill Ambassador for Pakistan since December 2015, Muniba Mazari has brought her rich experience as an activist, television anchor, artist, model, singer and motivational speaker to inspire women and girls in Pakistan and far beyond. As Pakistan’s first differently-abled anchor, Mazari is devoted to highlighting major issues faced by women and girls on her weekend shows on both the national and international level. Be it gender-based violence against women, early child marriage or representation of differently-abled persons in mainstream media. She’s one of the leading voices in the #16Days campaign to end violence against women and girls in Pakistan.

Mazari dedicates her efforts to promoting Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, specifically in support of UN Women’s advocacy on women’s rights and the inclusion of women with disabilities.

Her work makes a direct contribution to the achievement of both SDG target 5.1 on ending all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere and target 5.5 on women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life.

In addition, Mazari is an advocate for SDG 13 on climate action, using her platform to amplify the messages of the UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the findings of the major climate action reports from the IPCC and others.
