Midori

World-class violinist Midori has not only been a visionary and ground-breaking musician for 40 years but also an educator, activist, and champion for the developmental potential of children and youth. Her music career is inextricably tied to her humanitarian projects to provide music education to underprivileged and marginalized groups.

She has founded several nonprofit groups, including Midori & Friends, a non-profit organization that brings high-quality and free music education programmes to underserved youth with little or no access to the arts; MUSIC SHARING (based in Japan and active throughout Asia); and Partners in Performance (based in the US) to bring music to small communities, young people and others with limited access. As a Messenger of Peace, Midori continues to inspire young people through music education to build a sense of community and help advance SDG 4 to provide quality education for all, driven by the vision that music can make the world a better place and improve the human experience.
