A phone call from his mom launched Jeremy Hintz, Uber Health’s lead engineer, into a journey that ultimately led to Uber Caregiver. A firsthand witness to his own family’s caregiving needs—both for his mom and his grandparents, who she helps care for—he saw an opportunity for Uber to help alleviate the burden. With Uber Caregiver, caregivers can seamlessly coordinate services like transportation and grocery delivery on behalf of their loved ones, and help the care-receiver pay in-app using their health benefit cards. Hear more from Jeremy—and how Uber Caregiver aims to provide peace of mind for families just like his—on the TODAY show: https://lnkd.in/dVP3vRSU

Today at GO—GET, Uber’s annual product event, Uber Health announced Uber Caregiver—a new solution beginning to roll out this summer, designed specifically for caregivers and their loved ones. 53 million (and growing) Americans are caregivers. This role is often demanding, time-consuming, and logistically complex; Uber Caregiver aims to help lighten the load. Care-receivers will be able to add a caregiver to their Uber profile, empowering them to request and monitor rides and deliveries, as well as apply the care-receiver's eligible health benefits to pay. By alleviating logistical burdens, we can help improve the experience and provide peace of mind for caregivers and care-receivers alike. Caregiving takes a team, and Uber Health is proud to be a part of it. Caregivers and their loved ones can sign up to be notified when Uber Caregiver becomes available for them at uberhealth.com/caregiver. To learn more, visit https://lnkd.in/dsYmk3pD

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently approved NY’s Medicaid Section 1115 demonstration, unlocking (among other things) new funding for transportation and nutrition services. Uber Health can help organizations implement these services to better support patients beyond the four walls of a medical office. One way we can do that is through our integration with Findhelp. With Findhelp’s vast social care network and our expertise in benefit coordination, we can support the administration of several 1115 waiver programs and help improve access to non-emergency transportation and groceries at scale. https://lnkd.in/drCUwiYH

At Uber, we believe healthy food can have a major impact on patient outcomes—and that it should be accessible to all. We're proud to announce our commitment to help more people access nutritious foods as a part of the 2024 White House Challenge to End Hunger and Build Healthy Communities (https://lnkd.in/gd-RSR5C). These commitments represent the latest efforts in our continued track record of supporting vulnerable populations and bridging access gaps. We’ve committed to implementing a variety of initiatives by 2025, including offering access to SNAP/EBT grocery delivery to all eligible retail partners on the platform across the US; enabling providers and community-based organizations to order grocery items on behalf of patients to deliver “food as medicine”; working with our largest US grocery partner, Albertsons Companies, to explore how our logistics network can help transport excess food waste from stores to nonprofits and food banks; and more. “Historically, the onus has been on patients to navigate their own benefits—from figuring out what they’re eligible for, to tracking down those services, to securing reimbursement. We’re turning that model on its head.” We’ve teamed up with Socially Determined to enable plans and providers to proactively identify patients in need, engage, and connect them with the items and services to help promote healthy outcomes.
