We'll get back to you in the new year...

You're probably starting to hear this line from hiring managers and companies. Auto reply emails are starting to hit your inbox and you might hear crickets until 2024🦗

But now's the time to dial in and be ready to hit the ground running in the new year.

We asked Lisa Wrezel, Talent Sourcing & Diversity Specialist at Air Products, what she recommends using this time for as you continue your job search. She said,

"Applying to a role with hundreds of applicants and trying to stand out? I recommend recording a video expressing why you are interested in this role and what makes you a good fit.

Don't do this for each role you apply for-this is for the jobs that you REALLY want. Keep the video under 2 minutes. Email the video to the hiring manager directly, stating in the body of your email that you realize this may be unorthodox but are trying to differentiate yourself in an extremely competitive market.

*I personally leveraged this strategy during my job search and had success with it. Feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn if you'd like to hear more about how to put this intro practice."

Now's the time to choose those specific roles that really strike a chord with you, prep an intro video, and be ready to send it now or in the new year.

Keep up the good work!

I was wondering @LisaWrezel / AlloHire for those who are nervous in front of a camera, could you advise a step-by-step plan on the best information to include in the 2-minute video for the video to stand out to recruiters? Many thanks in advance for your advice 🙏

Lisa Wrezel great advice! Would you recommend Loom for recording / sending your video? I know it can be tricky to email a video from your iphone due to the size of the file.

Anthony Silva, Matthew Black, Andrew Schlemmer, Rachel Dooley LOVE the idea of a video for the jobs you really want! AlloHire Is the video intro idea for smaller companies you're applying to only? I'm trying to imagine a recruiter at a big place, like Disney, being able to weed through that many emails.

Auto replies are the worst 🤦🏻♂️ Love some of these ideas to stand out - especially a video introduction!
