Opportunities, challenges, and use of generative AI in UK schools

Immediate access to our recently published 2023 report and offer to join our 2024 edition (with your own questions included) in October 2024.

I am sure you have read much about generative AI in education but how much of it is representative of the wider teacher and parent population?

Our view from many of the media stories we have read is the emphasis on cementing an existing opinion of the organisation or journalist. Therefore, we set about a project to blind test our head teacher, curriculum, and subject leader panels. Each teacher had no idea that the survey was going to be specifically about AI before they clicked on the link – just that the research covered educational technology. Therefore, we hope that we have received insights from teachers that are not just from those on the very positive, or very negative spectrum of opinion. We mirrored this work with our parent panels – covering those with children in either primary or secondary schools.

We looked at awareness of generative AI and the challenges and opportunities of the technology – with school leaders, teachers, and parents. In addition, we looked at where schools had written policies covering the use and impact of generative AI.

The insights were very revealing – people are far more open to change than we suspected. Over 2,000 key stakeholder staff responded – along with nearly 3,000 parents. We also covered more commercial issues, such as when schools are likely to purchase generative AI tools, what for, and where they need advice and support. Our parent report also makes an interesting read regarding differences in view based on socio-economic group, household income and gender of both parent and child.

We have a limited number of report licenses available for a reduced fee, with the additional benefit of an additional discount if you join our 2024 programme of research. Running in September, you will have the opportunity to add your own confidential questions (up to three). So, with the package you receive the 2023 report immediately (published in December 2023), then in October this year we’ll gather your confidential questions to ask of our panellists and report back to you in November – all for a very competitive fee.

Please get in touch for more information and the license fee offer. You will see there is a steep discount as we would like you to be a regular subscriber in future years. Any questions please let me know and we can set up a call to discuss.

If you would like to review the options to join our client base and potentially gain access to some of our reports (most have a very limited licence release programme), then please contact me on [email protected] and we can arrange a call.

Regards

Richard Connor
