Increasing our clients hiring efficiencies

It’s interesting to see that despite the array of technological advancements and sophisticated software solutions available, Hiring Mangers (HM) still often encounter frustrations reminiscent of a bygone era when it comes to hiring for their teams.

Frustrations often arise from the inefficiency and potential waste of time and resources involved. For example, a HM receives a really impressive CV that leads to them investing time in their busy schedules to conduct an initial interview only to reveal that the candidate has a lack of crucial technical skills or is a poor cultural fit.

Even with screening tools and applicant tracking systems readily available, accurately assessing soft skills and cultural alignment remains challenging, often demanding human judgment and intuition.

At Saragossa, we advocate for a collaborative approach with our clients, acting as an extension of their brand. To achieve this, we:

Look beyond the Job Spec

Through thorough conversations with our clients’, we uncover valuable insights that help us with our search beyond the job specification. Understanding a company’s values, team dynamics and necessary soft skills are essential for us to start our search.

Particularly in the investment technology sector, where the synergy between technology and the broader business can greatly influence a firm’s success, collaboration between talent acquisition and the client is vital to ensure that the candidates put forward are not only good for the HM, but the team and the company overall.

For instance, on the infrastructure side, engineers often develop and support services used by key stakeholders, including Traders. They're often in high-pressure situations where any outages have the ability to affect a funds bottom line whilst affecting their reputation within the space. Of course, they need to have a good technical understanding of the issues at hand alongside the ability to rectify the problem but it's also vital that they're able to communicate issues clearly with stakeholders. They need to think on their feet, create solutions and help to manage expectations.

Handle the initial screening

We have significantly increased our client’s efficiency by handling initial screening interviews ourselves, recording and submitting the video interview alongside the candidates CV, providing a comprehensive view of the candidate to our clients.

Whilst a CV provides the essential information about a candidate’s background and qualifications, a video interview adds depth and context by showcasing their verbal and non-verbal communication skills, personality, professionalism and fit for the role and the company.

In my opinion, this approach offers clients a much more holistic understanding of whether a candidate is a good fit for their organization.

Good read. I'd agree, using video platforms to screen candidates has been really helpful.
