Brand Hackers 2021 Wrapped

2021 was the year Brand Hackers was born. Last year, it was just Lottie & Lizzie plugging away, and now there are 7 super-stars. We’ve worked with more than 20 brands, making them famous fast. With quick thinking, and our mega community behind us helping inspire and refine our thinking, here’s some of the best campaigns we’ve delivered:


  1. Apply to be a Chocolate Taster for Seed & Bean 

Seed & Bean came to us with a challenge: push more sales in Sainsbury’s. With extraordinary Willy Wonka style flavours like Lavender and Mandarin & Ginger, we felt inspired to create something magical for the brand. We used a combination of email marketing and organic social to launch our ‘Apply to be a Chocolate Taster’ scheme. The ticket to entry? One bar of Seed & Bean from Sainsbury’s. We increased their rate of sale by 87% and saw hundreds of avid fans flock to apply for the role. 


2. Save the Sea Turtles for OceanSaver 

OceanSaver has a reusable cleaning solution - a tablet you just drop into any existing cleaning bottle and fill up with water from home. This eliminates single-use plastic in the cleaning aisle, but the revolutionary tablet was stuck in an eco-bay in the dark, very back corners of Tesco. We needed to shine a light on the aisle, driving footfall and ultimately purchase, so we challenged ourselves to save the weight of 15 sea turtles in the single-use plastic we’d be removing from the ocean. We used reels and Instagram influencers to drive social engagement and educate on the product. Within 8 weeks we had seen 1.6 million reach on our combined channels with a 608% increase in instagram engagements. The best part? We sold a whopping extra 32,000 units and OceanSaver managed to add an extra 57 Tesco stores to their listing. 


3. Raising £1.1m for Dr. Will’s on Seedrs

Crowdfunding campaigns are tough and pulling off £1.1 million in just 17 days was no easy ride. We nailed our marketing assets by putting a super charismatic Founder with two very cute kids, a handful of very horrifying sugar stats and some seriously impressive growth metrics. Creating lots of noise and a tonne of FOMO saw us reach 275% overfunded in just over two weeks. 


4. Making a supply chain accident a success story for Nix&Kix

Last year, 80,000 cans of Nix & Kix were accidentally printed Yellow instead of their iconic cream colour. Instead of mourning the loss, we acted on it fast to produce something really positive - We teamed up with the children’s mental health charity Young Minds to help them with their #helloyellow campaign. For every one of our yellow cans sold, we donated 10% of the profits to Young Minds charity, raising thousands of pounds. 


5. Getting Innermost’s strategy down and the team set up to smash 2022

At the beginning of last year, Innermost came to us looking for support with their brand and marketing strategy. Firstly, we did a brand diagnosis to understand Innermost’s brand positioning and where they needed help most. We then developed a new brand strategy with a focus on building out key commercial objectives in order to supercharge their growth into 2022. 


6. Launching Superfoodio’s truly innovative peanut butter cups 

In 2021, we helped Superfoodio launch their world-first new product development, Peanut Butter Buttons. Peanut Butter Lovers can now satisfy their peanut butter craving on the go, without the mess or clag of eating peanut butter directly from the jar. At the end of the year, we launched their #nomorebutterfingers movement, calling on everyone to put down their spoons, and pick up a packet of peanut butter buttons, that got featured in in The Grocer's 2021 NPD highlights. 


7. Soulful’s new sexy site

We were tasked with building a new DTC offering for the newly merged Soulful Food and Vibrant Vegan to increase conversion and retention. In 3 months we designed and built a brand new website, including a bespoke Subscription flow and account management portal. We managed the end to end process, including initial user feedback, customer journey mapping, full UX website design and website development & testing.
