There ya have it folks... Going green solved nearly 100 years ago...js! For some people the desire to go green is to benefit the broader environment: fight climate change, reduce air pollution and curtail the harm we inflict on the planet and its many species. Others are motivated by their love and concern for the health and well-being of humanity. No matter where you fall, you need to first ask yourself, do I even know what going green means? and why should I make the change? In simple terms, to go green means finding a balance between the life you lead, the impact that life and your choices have on the planet, and being mindful enough to help maintain ecological balance to preserve the planet, its ecosystems, and its natural resources. Not an easy feat since our society is not set up in a way to help us succeed. We live in a linear economy rooted in the “take-make-dispose” step-by-step plan. This means natural resources (raw materials) are collected, then manufactured into the products we buy that are used, and then ultimately discarded as waste. Yeah, I know...it's a controversial subject but it's one we can't ignore. We’re celebrating Earth Day differently this year! 🌍 We’ve teamed up with a local primary school to inspire them to become more sustainable and we’re using Earth Day to launch our ‘why’. What is our why? Our why brings us together, gives us a purpose and shapes the direction of everything we do. Our why is: Protecting our Planet for Future Generations We believe that as a country, and as a world, we have the tools we need to transition towards a low-carbon future, mitigate the worst effects of the climate emergency and hand a healthy, clean world to our children and those who follow them. Nature is in crisis, placing human and planetary health at risk. A #GlobalGoalforNature - in parallel to the United Nations Climate Convention's “#net zero” emissions goal – is our guiding light in securing a nature-positive world by 2030, by taking urgent action to halt nature loss now. We need to halt and reverse #natureloss measured from a baseline of 2020, through increasing the health, abundance, diversity and resilience of species, populations and ecosystems so that by 2030 nature is visibly and measurably on the path of recovery. By 2050, nature must recover so that thriving #ecosystems and #naturebasedsolutions continue to support future generations, #biodiversity and play a critical role in halting runaway #climatechange.
