In aviation, human factors play an essential role in ensuring safe and efficient flights. At WYVERN, we believe in providing our clients with the most comprehensive human factors awareness training. One incident highlighting the importance of human factors occurred June 22, 1931, when Ruth Rowland Nichols, one of the most famous American women in aviation at the time, attempted to become the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. However, during a stop at Saint John airport in Milledgeville, her plans went awry due to miscalculations caused by the blinding sun. The resulting crash left her with five fractured vertebrae and months of recovery time. This incident underscores the critical role of human factors awareness in aviation safety. At WYVERN Ltd, our training is designed to help pilots and operators recognize and mitigate potential human factors risks, helping them avoid incidents like Nichols' and operate as safely as possible. I had the privilege to have worked for Evelyn "Pinky" Brier and her husband Joe at Tri-City air taxi in 1971.  In 1938 she became the first woman in history to be licensed by the Civil Air Authority as a flight and aerobatics instructor.
