It continues to provide essential antibodies, bonding, and nourishment. Sterilising feeding equipment ­– a brand new guide in our infant feeding category https://lnkd.in/e9x5T2jn   The author of this brand-new, fully illustrated guide is Zoe Meakin, Specialist Midwife and Tongue-tie Practitioner, Colchester Hospital. It has undergone double-blind peer review. Sterilising kills the majority of harmful bacteria, and it is important to sterilise all feeding equipment appropriately to protect babies from infections. The NHS recommends sterilising all equipment that is used for collecting, storing or feeding expressed breast milk or formula milk for babies under 12 months, as well as pacifiers (dummies) and any other items that a baby may put in their mouth.   This guide describes different methods of sterilisation using cold water, boiled water, and steam, as well as microwave and ultraviolet sterilisation. Some parents may prefer one method to another. A competency checklist accompanies the guide. This can be used to assist with staff training and assessment. The home was shut down in 2018 after multiple inspections revealed significant risks to residents' safety and inadequate staff training. 🔹 The Report's Findings The report highlighted a lack of effective infection control plans, poorly handled residents, and failure to report significant incidents to the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The care home was eventually closed down by Somerset County Council and the CQC, citing that the home "was unable to operate safely." 🔹 Legal Consequences The Nursing and Midwifery Council's disciplinary hearing focused on the proprietor's failure to implement a plan to improve the standards of care.
