Wow, is it just me, or do some sales and business development job descriptions seem stuck in 2015? "We are seeking a young, aggressive sales guru to dominate our business development efforts. Only true rockstars need apply, as we prefer a salesman with a proven track record who isn’t afraid to play hardball to close deals. Candidates must be digital natives, fully equipped to handle the tough, fast-paced world of sales. Our ideal salesman will hit the ground running and never look back." Blimey. Attracting top, diverse talent starts with writing inclusive job descriptions. Here’s an easy approach: Before posting any job description, run it through ChatGPT with the prompt: "Is this job description inclusive and if not, can you provide specific examples of where it isn't?" It takes just 2 seconds and gives you the best chance of hiring from a bigger, diverse pool. It's like giving your top closer the most leads - makes sense right?

I lived through the era of “Friendster” and “MSN Messenger” Not sure if you’re old enough to know what those are… But I must have spent hours messaging my contacts. Friends, strangers, relatives, everyone. I would get home after school, And have so much fun and joy chatting. (IFYKYK) I guess what I would never have expected was 15 years later? I landed my first sales opportunity in 2018, via chat. I asked my now wife on a first date in 2019, via chat. I booked calls and closed sales in 2020, via chat. I built my entire remote career, the past 6 years… All via chat. In fact, I think I probably made more money via chat Than actually getting on calls in 2023. Texting is not exactly the skill… Anyone can do a “rapport step” Repeatedly bump with GIFS Say let’s hop on a call bro The psychology, the nuance, the spirit of service… It’s the vehicle that allows you to express Service. It’s not a tool for us to harass, pitch, and take. One sales call takes up 30, 40, Sometimes more than an hour of your time. It’s important for connection… But outside of that Chatting allows you to seed far and wide. Nurture and support your leads at an incredible pace It closes the gaps in your sales pipeline altogether. And if you’re a business owner that’s good at this… Eventually you’ll have no problems delegating well. I’m preparing for a 2 hour deep dive training: 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐕𝐢𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐭 💬 It will be next Friday, LIVE on my Zoom. 12 select slots. If you’re interested in this session… DM me or comment “𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐓” below and I’ll get you signed up. 💯🦅

I went from an AM in the food industry to a Senior AE in tech… With 0 experience! If I can do it you can too. However… Solely applying for a tech role, will not land you the job. EVER! Why? The old fashioned approach of mass applying and crossing your fingers is dead. Not to mention completely… UNCONTROLLABLE! Here’s 3 things I did to secure interviews, trying to break into tech. 1. Referrals - Easily one of the best ways to secure an interview at your ideal company. Show how you leverage platforms like LinkedIn. I connected with members in the sales team. This is a win-win: as companies prioritise your profile and employees earn for successful hires. FYI - You should do this before applying direct🫡 2. Outbound activities - Find the hiring manager and the talent team (Usually on the job ad)! then craft short emails showing your research and fit for the role. Don’t underestimate the power of cold calling and messaging. This should be your bread and butter as you’re showing the skills you intend to bring to the role. Crazy how many people don’t do this! (From my XP it’s because you’ve applied to 1000s of jobs so it seems unrealistic, but still you should target 15 - 25 of your ideal companies and start multi-threading) 3. Personal brand - 2 years ago I had no idea what people used LinkedIn for, (Ignorant Ik!) but in this day and age optimising your professional presence is vital to being seen. Follow and engage with leaders in your preferred field and see what interests them. Connect with SDRs, AES offering value first! Learn from their profiles to optimize yours for maximum results. Bonus Point (Get Creative!) 👨🏿🎨 - Who said you can’t spice things up and send a video resume or a short video demanding to be heard? See… Here’s the best thing about all this They are CONTROLLABLE! Of course It’s not easy to break into tech sales But… Most people don’t want to go through the fire 🔥 Some people quit after a couple rejections 😮💨 Few people stick it out 🚮 Remember It only takes 1 person to give you that chance Get acquainted with rejection early Because if you do… You'll undoubtedly emerge as the victor. Keep shining 🌟 I’ll see YOU at the top 📈 P.S. Would it be useful to see the tech stack I used to secure more interviews and receive numerous offers? P.P.S. More content 🔔- Richard Obisanya 🏎️

Customer Service Rep|| Tech Writer & Storyteller: Defusing social media complaints, and seamlessly resolving customer concerns via email, phone and chats. Pick my brain.
Sequel to my previous post, here are the things to consider before hiring a Social Media Manager or Customer Support Rep: 1. Empathy level. Some people lack emotions and can talk carelessly where they should be considerate and diplomatic. You remember that hair vendor and her Social Media handler and how it went down with that customer? (check previous post for context). You don't want that kind of experience for your customers and you certainly do not need such a clueless person especially anywhere your aggrieved customers. _ ability troubleshoot _ internal voice of the customer _ creativity _communication skills 2. Ability to Personalize Responses Each customer is uniquely different. Your staff must learn to tailor your services to meet each customer's needs and make relevant interactions. 3. Ability to handle difficult conversations _ There'll always be a set of customers very difficult to handle. Your staff must be trained to resolve the customer's problems not dodge them _ Able to read the situation and prevent the customer from chumming. A lot of discretion is advised here. 4. Look out for employees with a similar value system as your company. Never lie to a customer! Set expectations and deliver same if not more. 5. Proactiveness- invest in support agents who are able to prevent or communicate service outages and manage disappointments in expectation to customers without losing them. It's a whole lot but these are the basics. The right person for the job makes for lesser headaches. A great customer experience equals returning customers and that means more money.💃 Invest in it. Invest in it! Did you agree? Are there other things you think should be considered? Share in the comment please. ___ I am Udoka Agbiokoro. I talk about customer service and offer support via social media, email, phone or chats. Follow me for more. 💃 #UD #CustomersAndBusiness #letsconnect

If you’re a Closer with “the skills”, but you haven’t learnt what an appointment setter can do? You’re missing out on a lot. It’s also Closing… except that we’re doing things via texting. Before I learnt setting, that’s all I thought what it was. Texting. But after I worked for 2 years as a setter… Those skills of booking calls, selling in the DMs, It made me self sufficient. I could actually use the same set of skills, to self source remote opportunities. I could fill my own calendar. I could nurture, pre qualify, or even close directly on chat. The whole problem of having to wait and wait… It was solved. Why didn’t I learn this super power earlier? And I know, the learning curve for closing is already a lot… To learn both? Would it be practical? The truth is, even business owners know how important this skill is. And sooner or later, you’re gonna realise what texting can do long term for your remote sales journey. Why not learn a little bit of this on the side? I’ve been receiving requests to put out more content on appointment setting, so this Friday I’ll be dropping some of the SCRIPTS I’ve personally used over the years. This includes prospecting, understanding touch points, convo psychology. It will be another one of my value first, free and complete training. Want access? Comment #me below.

Connects Businesses to Affordable Remote Talent in Africa | Builds Affordable Sales Teams | 🎙Podcast Host | Speaker| Outsourcing Impact Champion Award Winner 🏆| Choose Africa | Backpacked across Africa by myself ⛺
One of the most popular requests I'm getting is for remote representatives who are empathetic, have great communication, and are willing to go off script. Because nobody wants to talk to a robot-- whether that's AI or a cold caller that sounds too scripted. We work with a lot of clients whose customers have had health issues or other challenges where they need to hear a kind voice on the phone-- one that isn't afraid to deviate from the script to respond to what the customer says or ask a follow-up question that shows compassionate and care. If you want some super friendly, professional, caring sales reps-- choose Africa. #salesreps #appointmentsetting #coldcalling
