#Brands don't create culture, people do. This shouldn't be a controversial statement, but it can be in #marketing and #advertising. But what can brands do when it comes to culture? Invest, provide a platform, elevate, and engage. But it's the people who create. For humans, being in and about culture is not about just about being #cool, it's about making space to just be even when the more resourceful and powerful would cast the "unworthy" aside. To know the people is to know the culture. With The Culture Shift, we advocate for an #anthropology based approach to understanding culture shifts that have happened over decades. These shifts are at the heart of who people are, and how they #purchase. Sound interesting? Welcome in. Big shout out to all my colleagues who helped bring this to life and continue to advance the work with our clients: Sur Rajan, Ashanti Pittman, M.S. Joan Manuel Villas, Gary J. Nix More to come!

💥 In our second CultureMakers session yesterday we talked about how to influence #CompanyCulture, creating a cultural impact, and we looked at James Clear's marginal gain theory. (If you're new to the power of tiny habits, check out the link in the comments). 🧑🔬 For our latest experiment, we asked the CultureMakers to think about one area of their company culture they’d like to improve by 1%. Get involved! What would you influence in your organisation? Let us know in the comments 👇 #CultureMakers #MakeBetterDays #everydayisaschoolday

Our behaviours drive Culture - and not just the defined behaviours and principles but also unintentional actions. So, often I think that Culture starts with #selfawareness. 🔎
💧 Each action we take creates a ripple effect that extends beyond the immediate impact. 🔸 Every person plays a crucial role in shaping the culture with their behaviours and actions, intentionally or not. 🔹 Even a small action today can create a big impact on your culture tomorrow! #buildculturewithpurpose #cultureatheart #rippleeffect #behaviourcontagion

🧐 It's both a tricky and important thing to spend time defining the kind of culture you want to create. I frequently speak with people that find it hard to put their finger on the exact type of culture they have in their organisation, or even the one they aspire to be. To answer this very question, a few weeks ago I ran a People Strategy Day for one of our partner organisations. I helped them to define: 🤩 Personas - who are we designing people experiences for? ✨ Pillars - what do we want our culture to be known for? 🌟 Principles - how do we want to work together? One of my favourite parts of the day was using the Cameron & Quinn Competing Values Culture model to explore 'what we want to be known for'. 📌 If you're feeling stuck and want to be more intentional about culture building, try completing the below activity as a self-reflection, or with your team. 1. Map companies you know against the various quadrants, from tech giants through to healthcare. 2. Explore where you think your organisation sits at the moment 3. Vote for where you want your organisation to be in the future 4. Explore the gaps and ways you could move in the direction you want If you need a hand, or want to chat through a people problem like this - reach out! I love catching up with folks in the people and tech community. If you want to have a conversation about the future of work, the nature of work, the conversation needs to be about the culture you have, want, need, hate, want to reshape. The culture as the petri dish where everything grows, good or bad. Focus on culture. This is the real driver. This is the true conversation. https://viralchange.com/ #culture #culturechange #2024vision #changemanagement #futureofwork
