It became popular to complain about managers on LinkedIn. Everyone seems to agree that managers should: ⇢ Strike a balance between pushing for improvement and flexibility. ⇢ Aim for stellar results without overwhelming. ⇢ Offer support without hovering. ⇢ Be reachable, but keep it professional. In other words, 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲! Managers are just folks on their journey, learning and stumbling, occasionally tripping over their capes... 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐮𝐬. Having managed a fair share myself, I look back and see many mistakes I made. Want to navigate your relationship with your manager? Despite your best efforts, it's possible that the fit with your manager or the organization isn't right for you. If that's the case, you being in the driver’s seat might mean you making more significant changes.
