It became popular to complain about managers on LinkedIn. Everyone seems to agree that managers should: ⇢ Strike a balance between pushing for improvement and flexibility. ⇢ Aim for stellar results without overwhelming. ⇢ Offer support without hovering. ⇢ Be reachable, but keep it professional. In other words, 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲! Managers are just folks on their journey, learning and stumbling, occasionally tripping over their capes... 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐮𝐬. Having managed a fair share myself, I look back and see many mistakes I made. Want to navigate your relationship with your manager? 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬: 1) Align with your manager’s goals and vision. 2) Seek clear expectations for your roles and results. 3) Voice your needs, balancing personal and professional realms. 4) Invite feedback to understand how to improve and grow. Despite your best efforts, it's possible that the fit with your manager or the organization isn't right for you. If that's the case, you being in the driver’s seat might mean you making more significant changes. Remember, you are the captain of your life. 👨✈️ Blaming others won't propel you forward. 🚫 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡! Pro tip: 𝑻𝒐 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆, 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒂 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒔! ———— ♻️ If you found this useful, repost it 📌 Follow me to make meaningful, intentional changes at work and in life.

The Path to New Manager Success: Four Essential Strategies 🌟💼 Becoming a successful manager, whether fresh to the role or seasoned, comes with its unique challenges. The fast-evolving landscape demands more from managers than ever before. However, with the right strategies, they can excel. A thriving new manager doesn't just benefit themselves; it's a win for everyone involved. According to Colleen Adler, Director of Research at Gartner, successful onboarding of new managers results in improved performance, higher commitment, and increased retention among direct reports. Here are the four crucial strategies for achieving new manager success: 1. Embrace People Management: New managers often face a transition phase where they need to manage former peers, address potential favoritism issues, and navigate the complexities of their new role. Regular check-ins help align their perspective with the organization's approach, boosting their confidence and enthusiasm for the position. 2. Encourage Self-Reflection: It's common for new managers to replicate their past behaviors, but managing a team requires a different approach. A "start/stop/continue" model helps them adapt to their new role. Identifying their managerial strengths and learning from past challenges equips them for success. 3. Foster Networking: While the pressure to deliver results is high, building relationships is equally important. Encourage new managers to engage with previous managers, peers, and direct reports. Provide them with a networking guide to help them make meaningful connections. 4. Learn to Delegate and Support: New managers must learn to trust their teams, relinquishing some day-to-day tasks while providing support. Focusing on collective team wins is key. Coaching and nurturing psychological safety within the team are essential for overall success. These strategies empower new managers to excel in their roles, drive team performance, and contribute to the organization's growth. 🌟🤝 #ManagerSuccess #LeadershipDevelopment #TeamEmpowerment

For quite some time now, there has been a persistent demand for me to delve into the realm of skilled managers within the software industry. Thus, I resolved to embark on this journey and share my insights. In the realm of effective management, a trinity of vital factors stands out, which, once comprehended, can set the stage for success. The foremost factor is the profound understanding of an individual's persona. By delving into their personality traits, skill sets, proclivities, behaviors, and even personal challenges to a certain extent, we pave the way for a foundational understanding. This comprehension forms the cornerstone of effective management. Following the persona, the second facet revolves around adeptly overseeing and ensuring the delivery of quality work. Once the intricacies of an individual's persona are decoded, it becomes possible to shape their career trajectory and maintain a high level of motivation. Lastly, the compensation aspect emerges, occupying the final piece of this management trifecta. Harmonizing these three facets necessitates adherence to the TTD model: Trust, Transparency, and Deliverables. By fostering trust, being transparent, and consistently delivering on commitments, a skilled manager can navigate the complexities of the software industry with finesse, ensuring the success of both their team and the projects at hand. #manager #management
