I browsed through Jobs sites and found that most job descriptions for community managers are 💩 It is 💩 idea to put your community team under the marketing team. and ask them to do webinars, social media, and hackathons. Something I shared on Facebook on 5/2 worth posting here. And for others in the same boat, you got this and I’ve got your back if there’s anything I can do to help. My first day out of a job. When you're out of a job, your job is to find a job. To quote Jocko Willink, how do you get started? You start. Setting daily goals. Work your network. Fill your calendar with catch ups with your contacts, do meaningful, mindful applications with targeted intent and purpose. Share your resume with people not with the intent that there are immediate openings, but that they may share either internally in their organizations or recommend additional contacts to reach out to. Embrace and enjoy the process, let it unfold organically. Doesn't need to be 8+ hours a day, but continuous moving of the needle to make inroads.

We've all seen the discussions regarding the responsibilities of Social Media Managers. Recently, I've been really interested in processes, organization and structure as it pertains to social media teams. I wanted to build something that could hopefully guide junior & mid-level professionals on their path to reaching the pinnacle of their career. In addition, providing them with realistic expectations when searching for or starting a new role. I reached out to a bunch of awesome individuals hoping to source a collaborative effort making this, hopefully, the most accurate representation of what every role looks like. Them: "Hey, can I pick your brain about community?" Me: Sure…what specific questions do you have? "I just want to know how to build engagement." Me: Okay, tell me about the community—why does it exist? "To give them a place to connect and talk." Me: Okay, but why this community? Where are you taking them? "I’m not sure, and I don’t really have the bandwidth to manage it." Me: What was the plan when you launched? "We didn’t really have one. Can you tell me the salary range for an entry-level Community Manager?" This is a summary of way too many meetings I’ve had. It’s also why I don’t take calls like these anymore.
