This week I participated in a Hiring Our Heroes Telecommunications hiring panel, a Telecommunications virtual hiring fair, and a huge 50strong. I briefly met many people or had micro-interactions with them about their interests or goals. I can't remember the hundreds of unique people at each event. But what is next for them? Here are three quick tips for anyone at those events or a job seeker. 1) Apply for the job, anyway! Many people want to "talk to someone before they apply" in this digital landscape. You need to get that application in and then talk about the job. You should know your skills and abilities and determine whether you are a fit. Don't tell yourself no. 2) Set up job alerts for the types of jobs and at the companies you are most interested in! These job alerts will help you see and apply quickly to open positions. When in doubt about applying, see tip one. 3) Follow up, and follow through! If you are interested in a company but have yet to see a job for you. But want to start informational interviews with people at that company, go for it. Then when they give you an action item or a takeaway, follow up and do it. Keep that connection warm and updated on what you are looking at and looking for within their organization. This was the most depressing job fair Pikes Peak Workforce Center ever hosted. The people who represented the US defense contractors were so clueless they had no idea of the jobs they were trying to fill. The worst part is they were so stupid they could not even collect resumes or take names. I took my tablet to showcase Haven Pride, and we're so stupid they could not tell the difference between VR and real life. They called the VR video of Haven Pride a real-life recording. Even though they were told it was a C/C++ object-oriented, they called it a ChatGPT program. These are supposed to be the people who represent the Defense of the USA, and people wonder why the national security of the USA is at risk. This explains why Haven Pride has discovered 2376 government agencies and defense contractors infected with ransomware. Now I know why the National Security of the USA is in great danger, and it explains why The White House and the National Security Agency have done nothing. The people recruiting Haven Pride have checked their names and backgrounds to find most of their work history to be fake and bloated. It's nice to know that the requirement to become a defense contractor is to manipulate ChatGPT to make you a bogus professional resume. Once you are on the job, you don't have to do anything; this is why the recruiters at the Pikes Peak Workforce Center job fair failed to investigate when I took their card and Had The artificial intelligence run a work background on them. Michael Johnson the maker of Haven Pride Will be attending as a candidate to the Colorado Springs Job fair on November 2nd. I know most of you have no idea of the power behind Haven Pride, and they have no idea it is decades beyond the best Cryptography Key management system. Adventures in Virtual Job Fairs: I spent 7 hours speaking to recruiters and filling out forms today. Plus an extra hour, to apply for more jobs outside of the fair. 😵 Recruiters waited in 34 chat rooms, one for each company. Once inside, you're amongst 30 to 100 people spamming the feed with cover letters, while the rest try to submit questions. There were many federal positions, but they're in remote areas. For example, Livermore, CA only has 87K people. The way folks hire for cyber is still broken. Skills-wise, cybersecurity is mid-level IT. But instead of training up IT people into cyber roles, companies cater towards college kids without job experience. Or take people who already have the work experience. Think about it, an experienced IT person with cybersecurity training, has to do more to get cybersecurity work experience, than someone just starting out. The tech pipeline seems to connect A to C, while bypassing B. Leaving a chasm in the middle. Aon has offices in NYC and a great 9-month rotational program.
