Indeed it is never too late to fulfill your dreams! Helping a 75-year-old realize his dream of becoming a flight attendant is a heartwarming and commendable act, and it's an excellent illustration of empathy and Emotional Intelligence (EI) in action, particularly in a corporate setting like an airline. Empathy goes beyond just understanding someone's feelings; it's about genuinely feeling with someone and acting upon that understanding. By helping the 75-year-old become a flight attendant, even if just for a day, Southwest Airlines is essentially saying, "We understand how much this means to you, and we're here to make it happen." This act reflects a deep emotional connection and the willingness to go the extra mile. #empathy #emotionalintelligence

On an international flight yesterday... We had a long ground delay - four and half hours sitting on the tarmac due to a broken tray table. The flight purser from United Airlines, Danika, handled the delay with positivity, clarity, and transparency. She communicated regularly, honestly, and with a smile that also said, "I know - this is not fun." It was funny, we noticed her when the flight attendants boarded, because she was the only one smiling. Despite the challenge of rallying the crew, she kept them busy meeting the needs of passengers as the minutes turned into hours. It was definitely no fun, but it could have been way worse. She made the difference on a plane that could have been angry passengers, but the passengers ended up feeling real empathy for the crew, because their 7 hour flight turned into 12 hours, and unlike the pilots, they got no breaks, and had no place to rest. Danika has been a flight attendant for eight years, and only planned to be one for a year, but loves the challenges that comes with her job, and the increased responsibility she’s earned. It's nice to see someone rise to a challenge, and make a difference because they find real purpose and meaning in their job - in making a difference in other people's lives. Real leadership can be defined in lot's of different ways. I just hope someone at United Airlines puts Danika on the fast track. We need more compassionate people like her in higher levels of responsibility. #empathy #airlines #leadership

There will probably be obstacles along the way just keep focused and have a clear feasible plan. 3. NEVER give up. Today is International Flight Attendant Appreciation Day: Do You Feel Appreciated? American Airlines Today is International Flight Attendant Appreciation Day, a day first observed in 2015 to celebrate and recognize Flight Attendants for their commitment to safety and their contributions to the success of airlines worldwide. Today and every day, we celebrate Flight Attendants at American Airlines and across the industry. American Airlines Flight Attendants feel grossly underappreciated, unsupported, and ignored. A draconian attendance policy makes Flight Attendants feel like just a number and management's lack of empathy and respect for their hard-working employees could not be more evident.  Earlier this year, Miami-based Flight Attendant Pete Enriquez was spit on and punched by a passenger during a flight to London. Surrounded by passengers and crew, he diffused the situation to prevent further violence and protected the safety of the aircraft and everyone onboard. After accompanying him to the hospital, the company offered no continuing support for Pete and pursued zero accountability for the man who assaulted him. American Airlines demands accountability from Flight Attendants. Who holds our management team accountable for the extreme lack of support and empathy? The lack of care for employees is no way to run an airline. Not on International Flight Attendant Appreciation Day. Not any day. #NoAAccountability No respect. No way to work.
