Any OS that a) Unilaterally auto-applies/forces software/“security” updates (since we know that at least 50% of them have nothing to do with security/features, and instead are about official M$ tracking/telemetry/spyware/adware) b) Not only auto-applies but enforces the auto-application on its own schedule/time-frame is a hard pass from me. In fact I would actually describe such a way of operating as “official malware”. Terrible OS, terrible system, full of horrific technical flaws. Unfortunately with a marketing/sales budget and team the size of Jupiter, and OEM stitch-ups, it refuses to die, so half the world continues to use it. Use GNU/Linux or BSD and take control of your computing. On my Debian 12 system, I control exactly when, how, and what updates are applied. The system has unbelievable stability and outstanding performance. As it happens, I’ve scripted it to just update on shutdown every night, and I trust the stable channel; the point is I’m in complete control. Debian, Arch, FreeBSD, NetBSD, and OpenBSD are gold-standard systems.

I'm learning Bash, and it is surprising to see how many commands are similar to Windows. Of course, then there are differences as well. #bash #commandline #windows #linux

3wThank you, Tuta | Secure Email & Calendar, for advancing privacy-friendly email notifications—much appreciated! But do we really need email notifications? Imagine a postman ringing your doorbell each time they deliver a letter... Would you ask them to summarize it to decide whether to read it now or later? Email is inherently asynchronous, like postal mail, yet we've burdened it with unnecessary expectations. From excessive spam to the overuse of CC and misinterpretations of silence as consent, it's clear we need a shift. I've turned off notifications and check emails periodically, staying reachable via Signal or phone for urgent matters. Let’s focus on enhancing the core functions of email. What are your thoughts on email notifications? #EmailPrivacy #DigitalCommunication #TechInnovation #ProductivityTips #FutureOfWork
