This week’s #wisdomwednesday statement continues the theme of capable processes. The third building block of a stable and capable delivery system is achieving capability. This means that the organization can deliver its products or services on time in full, within the customer tolerance lead time, and at the customer’s quality specifications. To achieve capability, it is very important to clearly understand the needs of the customer, and then design the process to deliver those needs. In most cases, leveraging actions taken to improve employee engagement and teamwork will improve the response time to customers and will generally move the organization closer towards capability. From the organizational perspective, there are very few resources that are limiting the organization from being capable, which can be easily identified once the operating system is stable.
