March is here... and we are using the month in the Females and Finance Community to talk about 31 Things That Affect Women. We have real issues that need real people to solve the real problems women face. We continue to fight the issues on the daily... and it's 2024, friends. Day 3 is about Violence / Abuse. Some facts to consider: - Globally, an estimated 736 million women—almost one in three—have been subjected to physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence, non-partner sexual violence, or both at least once in their life (30 per cent of women aged 15 and older) (UN Women) - About 1 in 5 women have experienced completed or attempted rape at some point in their lives. (The National Institutes of Health) - And though Title VII protects women in the workplace, one study found that 34% of female employees say they have been sexually harassed by a colleague. (AAUW) - According to a survey NPR published last year, 81% of women report having experienced sexual harassment, with verbal harassment being the most common. And if you don't believe me - then check out Michael Kitces post from less than 24 hours ago where he called out to our #FinServ profession on how an advisor and their office used a woman to financially benefit the financial services firm.
