Samsung Electronics has gone on the offensive by rapidly pushing out its own ad in response to the back lash major rival Apple faced over its recent 'Crush' iPad Pro ad. We love abit of healthy brand rivalry here at The Drum, so for its sheer cheek the Samsung spot gets our As of the Day slot. But is Samsung right to do this? Will the brand benefit as a consequence? Will the average Joe understand that the Apple ad missed the mark? So will this miss the mark? Will the average Joe have seen the press coverage of the Apple ad flop and therefore find this fun? Will the average Joe watch this and wonder why there is a massive Samsung tablet on an aisle while a woman plays a totalled guitar? It’s all a bit self indulgent no?
A great ad… if your audience is the marketing industry and no one else.
