In 2023, we made time for reflection and evaluation as a team, we changed tactics when necessary based on community input, and we saw our actionable research lead to tangible results. 🥳 ✏️ In 2024, we’re going to keep asking questions, taking on projects that advance #RacialJustice, and centering community expertise to make meaning, together. Guess what? By 2040, Americans aged 65+ will hit 80 million, and those 85+, who often need basic help, will quadruple. And guess what else? The contribution of the 50-plus increased to more than $9 trillion–debunking the myth that older people are a drain on the economy. In 2050 when Gen Zs join the 50+crew, annual projections skyrocket by 240%, hitting $28.2 trillion! What a chance for all of us to rethink aging in the US. It's not just about the 'senior industry.' FYI - it's also not just about your parents or grandparents; YOU too are getting older (if you're lucky). Does that change your perspective? Your sense of urgency? Now, picture doing all your autopilot tasks today. Now, imagine doing it as an older adult, or an older adult with cognitive and/or physical challenges. Or being an older spouse supporting your partner in the same boat. Take a .25-mile stroll in their shoes, and brace yourself for an eye-opening, painful, antiquated, frustrating, messy, complex, and SLOW ride. Your expectations about life today won't match tomorrow's if you're eyeing the current human experience in aging. But hey, we're a nation of innovation! We've changed things when change was hard. What a golden opportunity for entrepreneurs, senior industry insiders, academics, policy influencers, and leaders in transportation, hospitality, health and beauty, etc., to shake things up and build the longevity economy we all deserve and kinda expect. We're building a diverse community of change-makers ready to dive into projects, deliver results, and start showing what IS possible.
