We all love a shopping spree - but did you know that our shopping habits are changing all the time? Here are some of the predicted trends that are going to shape the next five years: 👉 Omnichannel experiences - today, we don't need to head out to the shops - we can shop anywhere we want, from social media to online retailers to brick-and-mortar stores. Companies need to keep up with demand 👉 Emerging platforms - younger shoppers are 2-3 times more likely to turn to emerging media when searching for something new, such as shoppable videos, virtual try-ons, and online live streams. 👉 Less brand loyalty - 73% of people expect companies to understand their needs and expectations, and brand loyalty is taking a back seat. Retailers must focus on providing their audience with a stellar shopping experience or risk being left behind. 👉 The rise of Gen Z - Gen Z's spending power is growing, and although they love online retailers, they still say 42% of their spend occurs in physical stores. Retailers should focus on providing the best omnichannel experiences to grab Gen Z's attention. 👉 More value, less risk - shoppers are much more intentional about values now more than ever. I've always preferred shopping in-store, where I can try things out before buying. While I've purchased from multiple D2C brands, I've barely bought anything online. I've noticed many #D2Cbrands rapidly expanding their presence offline. However, I was curious about how many customers shared my preference for offline shopping over online. I was amazed by the statistics from a report by Inc42 Media: 🔢 Over 73% of shoppers use multiple channels in their shopping journey, per Harvard Review. 🔢 54% of customers prefer viewing products online but purchasing in-store, per Shopify. 🔢 #Omnichannel marketing boosts AOV by 13% compared to single-channel strategies. Brands have extended their offline presence to leverage scale and increase their margins. 👚 From a brand’s perspective, delivering a seamless customer journey by activating all demand channels increases stickiness. This includes establishing communication at every step of the customer’s journey, order and delivery statuses, personalized promotions, proactive outreach, query handling, and more. 👚 From a customer's perspective they seek flexibility, speed, and engagement during their buying journey with a brand. 👚 For me, offline shopping is more than just buying things—it's an experience. It's about taking time for myself, getting personalized assistance, and enjoying some social interaction. As someone who loves the fun of shopping in-store, I can't wait to check out new store formats and experiences from emerging brands.
