We condemn racism towards the Black community. We condemn acts of violence, bigotry, hate. Change starts with each of us holding ourselves accountable and taking actions towards a better, more just world. A lot of work needs to be done. Here's the note we shared with our team.

Sequoia’s 2:1 match for contributions to organizations that focus on civil and civic rights aligns their statements of empathy with the money needed to do the work of redesigning better social contracts. Virtual mental wellness access aligns with their statements of compassion and emotional support needed to do the work that will emerge from racist backlash. Experience through the decades shows that two steps forward for racial justice and social rights is often followed by 10 steps backwards caused by backlash and resistance to progress. Staying in the fight for what’s right until it’s secure and part of the social contract takes both financial and emotional support. I hope other wealthy firms follow suit.

We are a minority owned and invested in startup and would love to have a conversation about a PreA round. (female, Asian, POC, etc.) :)

It is not lost on us that you do not have any Black principals listed on your website. Where are they? Do you have any?

Great post! Thank you!

Thank you Sequoia for this statement......!

Technology is inherently classist, since whoever controls technology controls society and the economy and given that American racism is the primary means of depriving African Americans equality, High Technology and Investors are a direct reflection of this unique type of racism...That said, publicly acknowledging the problem is a great 1st step team Sequoia....Thank you for taking the lead Sequioa, it is a brave stance....As one of the first African American to take a tech company public, I understand that exclusion is real but there are helpful people along the way...Much progress has been made....
