HSBC is planning to open three wealth centres in Singapore by the first three months of next year, expanding its investment fivefold in its physical network, the UK/Hong Kong-listed group said yesterday. As the news filters out about the Royal Mail's takeover by a Czech billionaire, there are fears it could put the establishments future in jeopardy. This comes with fears of soaring prices, as despite the investor offering to absorb about £1.7bn of existing debt, the takeover could be open to new negotiation in just a few years. An extra £2.3bn in borrowed funds will be used to buy IDS (International Distribution Services), meaning Royal Mail will be exposed to even more debt should the deal go through.
