Day 2 highlights from the Asia Pacific Procurement Congress 2024, organised by Procurement Leaders | A World 50 Group Community Another solid day of discussions and presentations. Here’s a quick recap for those who couldn’t make it: 🔹 Cassie Mackie FCIPS MBA (Etihad) gave a look into Etihad’s procurement transformation, built around agile procurement. Her five focus areas: Collaboration & Optimisation, Strategic Prioritisation, Supplier Partnerships, Agile Methodology, and Talent Management. She talked about shifting policies, streamlining processes, and honing in on Supplier Relationship Management (SRM). Cassie’s emphasis on grit really stood out as a driver of lasting change. 🔹 Tomas Veit and Naoki Nagahama (Asahi Global Procurement) shared Asahi's journey from a Japan-focused approach to a fully global model, helping them deliver more value across local, regional, and global levels. 🔹 Tom Bollen (Standard Chartered) & Ter Long Tay (Ministry of Finance (Singapore)) discussed the crucial link between procurement and finance. Surprisingly, a third of attendees said they don’t align regularly with finance on savings targets, emphasising the need for working more closely across functions. 🔹 Dragoljub Kelecevic (Green Climate Fund) gave a really interesting presentation on partnering. Appreciate the insights having travelled all the way from Korea. 🔹 Nikki Symonds (Origin Energy) talked through the transformational journey her organisation has been on. 🔹 Khun Pattarin Mahavinitchaimontri (KASIKORNBANK), Julia Thyagarajan (Olam Agri) and Elaine Chen (SATS Ltd.) led a discussion on the skills needed for the future of procurement, pinpointing agility, tech and data literacy, and strong communication as essentials.
