What CAN’T dogs do? Seriously - is there anything dogs can’t do? Let me know Because I’m impressed every day, imagine this: A sunny summer day. You’re off work, on vacation at the beach. Seagulls, tide, and happy beachgoers create the perfect white noise for your paperback. Suddenly - a shriek. Looking up in concern, you see a lifeguard spring into action, hoisting a bright red floatation device into the water. A few feet behind, another lifeguard approaches the water with a huge fluffy dog. The second lifeguard and dog follow the commotion. Before the dog - keeping pace with the second lifeguard - catches up, the first lifeguard has the gasping swimmer secured to the flotation device. The lifeguards hand the flotation device over to the dog, who tows it dutifully back to shore. Dogs are common on beaches in Italy - the Italian School of Rescue Dogs (SICS) has taught trainers for over 30 years. But now, a beach in Maine is introducing its very own. Aptly named Buoy and Beacon, Scarborough Beach State Park’s 2 young Newfoundlands are the US's first and only ocean lifeguard dogs. Maybe someday, the wonders of dogs will be less exciting to me… but definitely not today. Honestly, I can’t wait for lifeguard dogs to become normal. I’ll ask again - is there ANYTHING dogs can’t do? 🐕🦺➡️ Click and FOLLOW my LinkedIn hashtag #dogsimeet for more Dog Tales and brand marketing tips and advice. #dogs, #storytelling #solutions

Guide dog etiquette - Did you know that when a working guide dog has their harness on, you should never pet, call the dog’s name or give it cues? This is because a guide dog should only hear cues from its owner, anything else could distract the dog putting both them and their owner in danger. Fran and her guide dog, Sean, who we introduced you to yesterday, have produced a guide of eight dos and don’ts which they think are important when encountering a working guide dog with a harness on. https://lnkd.in/ernWu2AF #InternationalAssistanceDogWeek
