From planning, procurement, and coordination, there’s a lot for a project manager to juggle on a daily basis, but the dynamic nature of the role is what drew Elie, Director of PMO into project management. With his education, experience and passion for organizing and leading team, it was a natural progression to a career in PM. Elie first joined Paladin in 2018 after having immigrated to Canada from Dubai, after hearing about our company’s reputation of innovation, commitment to excellence and our positive company culture, Elie knew that Paladin was a perfect fit. ➡️ What is your favorite aspect of project management? I find immense satisfaction in fostering collaboration, leveraging individual strengths and guiding the team through the challenges inherent in projection execution. ➡️ What is the biggest takeaway someone should know about project management? Remember the All-for-one, one for all approach, every task, decision, or event can affect other team members. The code of project management is teamwork, communication and planning. ➡️ What are some skills you possess that make you a great project manager? I would say I tend to thrive in dynamic and challenging environments and I have a strong capacity for learning and quickly assimilating new information. My strategic thinking, ability to develop comprehensive plans, identify critical pain points, and implementing strategies that align with the company’s goals is what has allowed me to excel in my role as a project manager. ➡️ What are your top 5 lessons as a project manager with extensive years of experience? 1. Embrace change and be adaptable The industry is ever evolving, and success often hinges on the ability to embrace change. Be adaptable and open-minded in the face of modern technologies. 2. Effective communication is key Clear and concise communication is foundational to success in any role. Whether it is conveying project goals, collaborating with team members, or updating stakeholders, effective communication ensure everyone is on the same page. 3. Prioritize relationship building Success in the industry is not only about technical skills but also about building strong professional relationships. Cultivate positive connections with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders. Networking within the industry can open doors to opportunities, provide valuable insights, and create a supportive community. 4. Continuous learning is essential Invest in ongoing education, attend conferences, and seek out professional development and opportunities. 5. Effective time management and prioritization Prioritize tasks based on their impact and urgency and be realistic about what can be achieved within given time limits.
