Memory is now available to all ChatGPT Plus users. Using Memory is easy: just start a new chat and tell ChatGPT anything you’d like it to remember. Memory can be turned on or off in settings and is not currently available in Europe or Korea. Team, Enterprise, and GPTs to come.
OpenAI When do you make this available in Europe? I think one can regard this feature as a mere configuration method and not as an invitation to do further training.
Why not Europe? 😨🥶 (powering up my VPN 🙄)
The best thing about this is not that ChatGPT just has memory, but that it's available across all of your chats. And you can even decide what you want ChatGPT to remember by heading into 'Settings' and 'Personalization' and 'Manage'. This is going to make a HUGE difference in responses the more you use it. Great job to the ChatGPT team at OpenAI!
There needs to be an opt-out function, but only some of the time. I have quite a few random questions that come up in a day that I do not want polluting my primary work.
Now, they should also add a permanent chat called "Get to know me," where you can go when you have some free time and improve GPT's memory by getting asked questions about you. The more users commit to offloading their reality to the tool, the more the tool will have a sticky parameter. The faster GPT gets to know us, the better it can be, and the more it can scale to be relevant to us.
I hate when OpenAI is doing like Google and others, announcing new fantastic features that we DO want to try… but finally it’s not for us. Most of the time reserved to US. I think it’s even worse than no news. It’s far worse with Google as they don’t say it’s not really available for everyone. They believe that the world is reduced to US. And sometimes the fantastic feature is abandoned before it has arrived in Europe… So I will, probably, give a like 👍 to the « news » once it is real for me. If it is some day…
It doesnt make sense to pay for it now. They cap for paying users is so low. You cant get any value from using the paying one. Mind you my friends and I have already figured out a way around it.
I’ll be keeping this feature disabled. I want a blank canvas, just my special instructions. How can I know what OpenAI is injecting from memory into my prompt? It might pull something it thinks is relevant but could be making my output worse, not better. If I was using it to write a novel and to remember things from Chapter 1 when I make a new chat for Chapter 2, sure that might be useful. Not for me but I’m sure it’s helpful to some!
Here in EU, we live in the middle ages. Thank you European Parliament and European Commission
