Empowering women in business leadership to speak with confidence | Trained actor | London commercial voice actor | Professional business speaker and ICF credentialed coach
⭐ The Girls Club ⭐ Great to be surrounded with like minded women last night! Thank you Joanne Webb and Dina Westenholz-Smith for organising these events. I was surprised to hear story after story of women leaving their corporate jobs to go freelance, and take their careers into their own hands. These decisions, often influenced by various difficulties faced in the corporate environment, show a strong desire for more personal control over their careers. Leaving behind a steady salary and job security to pursue starting a business is a bold move. Though I've always been a freelancer myself, I understand it's not an easy path. It takes courage and determination to step into the world of freelance work, and I admire anyone who takes that leap. Owning a business comes with its own set of challenges, but it's a journey worth embarking on for those who feel its right for them. Hi, I’m Lisa 👋 I talk about public speaking, speaking up, raising visibility, tackling imposter syndrome. I work 1-2-1 with females in tech, and females in corporate working towards leadership roles. Every woman should be free to climb the career ladder, yet biases hinder Black women from reaching senior leadership roles. Systemic racism, like poisoned water, affects opportunities, limiting Black women's upward progression. At WRC, we envision a world where Black women flourish, unencumbered by prejudice, leading with grace and power. Introducing our initiative, led by and for Black women, dedicated to fostering unity, ambition, and leadership across the UK. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eW2cfW2Z

The path of a woman business leader is paved with dedication, late nights, and relentless pursuit of excellence. The Women’s Business Awards offer more than an event; they provide a stage where your hard work is not just acknowledged, but celebrated. It means that the long hours, the sacrifices, and the determination have a moment to shine in the spotlight. It’s a validation that your efforts haven’t gone unnoticed, and your journey is an inspiration to others. Why is it a game-changer? Because recognition isn’t just a fleeting moment; it’s a validation of your journey. Being acknowledged among a community of accomplished women leaders amplifies the impact of your hard work and reinforces your belief in the path you’ve chosen. "We often forget to say ‘well done’ to those around us all too often, this is a great way to do that. Nominating for these awards is such an important step in recognising the great talent around us – and from someone that was nominated, it was a great ego-boost and recognition of a job well done. - Yvonne Balfour, Winner Employer of Women Award 2022" By attending the Women’s Business Awards with Women’s Business Club, you’re embracing an opportunity to stand tall and be celebrated. It’s a space where your accomplishments become a source of empowerment, reminding you that every challenge overcome is a step toward your greater purpose. Only two weeks left to enter or nominate someone! https://lnkd.in/ew_ypZRE #WomenInBusiness #NetworkingOpportunities #BusinessElevation #CollaborationMatters #TransformativeConnections #WomensBusinessAwards

Yesterday I attended a Women's College Hospital webinar called Black Women Leading in Healthcare, it was both empowering and incredibly insightful. Chenai Kadungure, Sandra Robinson, and Cheryl Prescod shared their personal journeys and highlighted the challenges faced by BIPOC individuals in leadership roles. While the focus was on BIPOC leadership, I found myself reflecting on the experiences of underrepresented patients within the health care system. One particularly impactful concept discussed was the acronym MEAT (money, education, attention, and time), which was presented in the context of how allies can support BIPOC individuals. This concept resonates beyond leadership roles and can apply to supporting underrepresented patients as well. At Unum, we believe it's essential for all of us, regardless of background, to listen to these voices, learn from their experiences, and work towards a more inclusive health care system. As allies, we can contribute our resources and influence to amplify these important voices and drive positive change. Thank you Chenai, Sandra and Cheryl, your energy to move the needle is incredibly inspiring and the encouragement and words of wisdom you shared was so powerful. Who else tuned in? What was your biggest takeaway?

Yesterday I held a menopause session at the Women's Leadership Networking event in Sunderland. The focus was on understanding the true impact of menopause, beyond the symptoms that can upturn many women's lives. Although the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause can cause distress, discomfort, and many challenges for women, it's how these symptoms play out in society and the economy that we need to build more awareness of to reduce and better support. One of the facts I shared yesterday is that suicide rates for women are highest in the age range 45-49, when perimenopause is at it's peak. I've read and heard stories about women who have sadly taken their lives after struggling sometimes for years without support for their symptoms, that are later found to most likely be hormonal related. Hormones were never investigated or discussed when these women sought professional help. Involving everyone in awareness around menopause and women's health is vital to our growth as a society and economy. If you'd like to find out more about how I can support your business and team, reach out to book a call. https://lnkd.in/ek5fNbNX #menopauseawareness #menopausesupport #workplacewellbeing #healthandwellness #healthawareness
