Outdoor holiday decorations are one of the best parts of this time of year! However, decorations on trees and shrubbery can be harmful if not done correctly. Here are a few tips for HOAs to ensure safe practices in your community: - Never use indoor holiday lights outdoors. They aren't made to handle the elements and can burn trees if they malfunction due to weather. - Use weatherproof extension cords to prevent the risk of fire. - Check the condition of your outdoor lights, extension cords, and lightboxes. Don't use any lights or cords with exposed/frayed wires. - Don't use a staple gun on trees.

Unfortunately, there is an increase in house fires and property damage throughout the holiday season. Holiday decorations, improper care of Christmas trees, space heaters, and additional cooking are the biggest causes of house fires during this time of year. If you have holiday lights or decorations hung then be sure you are not overloading a power strip or outlet, and that any decorations are not hung in a flammable location. Christmas trees that are not well watered are also a fire hazard due to increased flammability. Also during the holiday season, people typically cook more so having awareness of flammable items in the kitchen is important. If you have any property damage then reach out to our team and call (800) 835-0740. #unitedpropertyrestorationservices #uprs #careatwork #propertyloss #housefire #firerestoration #firedamage #apartmentbuilding #restoration #propertyrestoration #restorationservices
