Inspiration⚡️, Connection🫶🏾 and Growth 🦋- these three words sum up my week perfectly 👌🏾! Just had a moment to download everything I took from attending 3 amazing events this week - Karren Brady's Women in Business & Tech Expo, #RISK London, and Microsoft Envision. Each one was a reminder of the power of human stories, dreams, and ambitions ✨. Here are my reflections from the events: 💬 From Karen Brady’s empowering talk, I learned that standing up for ourselves and owning our value is not just important – it's a birthright. Don't let fear hold you back; ambition should always be your guiding star. 🌐 The session on the art of emotional intelligence opened my eyes to new perspectives. Lorna Watson shared her journey, battling imposter syndrome, learning more about where and how to navigate the intersection of values, belief, emotions and behaviour. I found this perspective SO interesting and am definitely going to be exploring this more so watch this space! 🔍 Uncovering, knowing and addressing your bias is not only crucial to success, it’s fundamental. We need to network with diverse individuals and not only be aware of our own biases but understand it, no matter how small they may be. Self-reflection is key to breaking through these barriers. 💪🏽 In Nesha Pai, CPA inspiring keynote she spoke about how overcoming obstacles boils down to these four things: courage, clarity, commitment, and champions. “Courage is what propels us into action, Clarity is our navigation system, Commitment is what will get us there and our Champions are our guides to help us along the way!” 🤖 Satya Nadella talked about how AI is evolving at a pace we’ve never experienced before, and it's for everyone, everywhere, accessible on a global scale. He challenged us to imagine a world where we had personalised AI tutors, doctors, and more in our pockets – it's definitely new era of empowerment! 💪🏽 Steven Bartlett stressed the importance of breaking free from labels, discovering our true potential, and embracing our multifaceted nature. He talked about cultivating team culture rooted in a mission's and underpinned by values, making it the cornerstone of great leadership. He's a massive advocate of those little improvements that add up, championing experimentation and building a culture that's up for trying new things, making quick decisions, and being tough as nails. So, in a nutshell: Fail with style, adapt like a chameleon, and fully lean into the ever-changing scene. Along with all of the above, the biggest take away was the reminder that the biggest tragedy in life is not living up to or embracing our potential 🌈. I'm listed as a Top 2024 Global Woman Leader. But my journey wasn't a straight shot.  I explored everything. modeling, entrepreneurship, coaching… I became an entrepreneur, then built more entrepreneurs. I built & ran 6 companies over the years. You know how? Because I didn’t give a damn about what people would say. When you are switching careers, It’s a lose-lose situation. It’s like flipping a coin. Heads it works. Tails it's a regret. But I listened to the whispers of possibility, not the shouts of fear. My mom always said this, “𝘑𝘰𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘢, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨" I believed it. And took a leap of faith. Last 20 years, weren’t bed of roses. I fell. Cried. Wiped tears. But climbed on. Today, I see a reflection of my own fire in the eyes of countless women. Thousands stand on the shoulders of what I've built (Happy Skin Club), reaching even higher. You know what I love about my job? I wake up every day knowing I'm a part of something bigger, Inspiring a generation of women. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱. You too can be remarkable. Don't overthink it. Had the amazing opportunity to co-host a session with Jessica Marati Radparvar of Reconsidered on #purpose led-careers.— I believe that the distinction between #career and #life is often fallacious. Drawing inspo from the Inner Development Goals, which I so love, I did what Jessica calls a “wisdom drop.” #wellbeing Laid out the following questions as food for thought:   ✨Looking "inward", what problem(s) / issue(s) in the world do you care about most or what causes speak to you?  Why? (for me, it’s oft about how I grew up - ideas / preconceived notions, culture, circumstances, #visceral experiences) ✨What is the scope of impact you'd like to have?  (personal / familial, local / national, global) (inspired by the KIND Quiz, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) ✨Which #stakeholders - personal or professional - matter to you; and why? (for me, my children are huge ones but I hesitate to say that lest it be used to limit my career potential … I ask myself what life Id like to create w/them)  ✨Which obstacles or barriers do you face in serving or supporting them?  In building relationships with them?  ✨In your career to date, where or when have you learnt more?  What would you like to learn going forward? I've journeyed through a series of challenges in my life—a rollercoaster of abusive relationships, financial struggles, bankruptcy, countless relocations, and returning to college later in life. Despite it all, I've never viewed my life as a series of hardships. People often ask me how I maintain such positivity in the face of adversity. My unwavering answer? Jesus, forgiveness, and the invaluable lessons gleaned from each experience. 💕 None of these paths have been easy.
