Data is absolutely crucial to making smart decisions. With the right data analytics, you can see what’s worked in the past and why (or why not), and you can predict and prepare for future trends.

Invest in Women's Health data! As we start to draw the curtain on #WomensHistoryMonth, it is clear that there is a lot of work ahead. Whilst there has been considerable improvement in gender equality, there is still so much to do to ensure the closure of the gender gap. For one, women’s health has been under researched, and women face different challenges from men in affordability and access to treatment. This health gap creates unnecessary suffering for women and preventable economic losses. As the saying goes, data is information, and information is power, however finding a safe, trustworthy and reliable source of health information upon which service provision decisions can be made and for addressing unmet needs in women’s health is one significant barrier to equal healthcare for all genders. This is not insurmountable. Through collaborative efforts, a more equitable healthcare for all is possible. There is an opportunity to close the gender health gap by - 1) Investing in women-centric research and development, 2) Strengthening the collection and analysis of sex and gender disaggregated data, 3) Enhancing access to gender specific care, 4) Encouraging investments in women’s health innovation #CSW68 #Womenshealth #Womenshealthadvocate #Womenshistorymonth #Yourhealthmatters

Why does the UK have the largest gender health gap in the G20 and the 12th largest globally? Why are women so often not listened to or not believed when presenting medical symptoms or concerns? Why do premenstrual syndromes, affecting an estimated 90% of women, receive just ONE FIFTH the funding as that of erectile dysfunctions, affecting an estimated 19% of men? Why in the UK are black women FOUR TIMES more likely to die in childbirth than white women? This INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY have a gander at this: https://lnkd.in/e5SQ6K8r Hosted by Louise Minchin and featuring the Women's Health Ambassador for England Professor Dame Lesley Regan, Dr Nighat Arif, Dr Karen Tang, and many more as well as powerful case studies and stories of positive work in action. #inspireinclusion #internationalwomensday2024 #iwd #iwd2024 #womenshealth ITN Business

🌟 This Saturday, August 26th, is International Women's Equality Day! As we commemorate the achievements of women and celebrate together, we must also reflect on the challenges that persist. 💲 Pay inequities continue to exist globally. Recent data shows that women in the United States earned around 82 cents for every dollar earned by men. This gap disproportionately affects women of color. 🌡️ Health disparities further remind us of spreading oppression. Women often face unequal access to healthcare, with the maternal mortality rate of Black women being nearly 2.6 times the rate for white women. 🔔 Systemic violence cannot be ignored. The alarming rates of gender-based violence underline the urgent need for harm reduction, safe spaces, and support networks. Addressing these gaps means prioritizing access for all women, irrespective of their race, ethnicity, disability, age, religion, gender identity, or sexual orientation. By raising awareness, providing and highlighting resources, and engaging in open dialogue, we contribute to a world that is inclusive of and accessible to all women. #WomensEquality #EqualOpportunity #InternationalWomensEqualityDay

To bridge the gender health gap and address the dismissal of women's medical concerns, we must implement several strategies. Healthcare systems should mandate the collection and analysis of gender-segregated data to identify disparities in health outcomes between men and women. Governments and private organizations should allocate more funding for research focused on women's health issues. Healthcare providers should receive training on gender-sensitive care and be educated on the unique health needs of women. Promoting gender equality in healthcare leadership and decision-making can help drive systemic change. Lastly, engaging with communities to raise awareness about women's health issues and destigmatize discussions around women's health can also be effective. Let's work together to reduce the gender health gap, improve healthcare outcomes for women, and benefit society as a whole. #IWD24 #LinkedInNewsMiddleEast

This #InternationalWomensDay, lets imagine a time when 75 per cent of adverse drug reactions are no longer impacting women, and 70 per cent of "medically unexplained symptoms" are not experienced by female patients. Picture a reality where funding for women's health research surpasses 7 per cent nationally and 4 per cent provincially. In a world where women have fought valiantly for equality, it's disheartening to see massive gaps remain in one of the most crucial categories: health care. As strong champions for change, we must address the disparities that persist in women's health research. Equity in health care is a fight we can't afford to lose. The women I love deserve more than statistics; they deserve a system that recognizes their unique health needs. It's time to elevate the importance of women's health research to the level it rightfully deserves. Becoming a champion for change means supporting initiatives like the Alberta Women's Health Foundation. Let's inspire inclusion in research and ensure that diagnosis and treatment for women match the strides made in other areas of gender equality. Together, we can ensure that the women we love receive the attention and care they deserve – and that their symptoms are validated, recognized, understood, and treated without delay.
