Healthcare Systems Expert - using collaboration and partnerships to add value to organisations and their strategies to ultimately improve healthcare outcomes
Waiting Lists… NHS waiting lists have been a hot topic for some time now with the health and care system facing ongoing challenges. In the last two weeks alone there have been a range of headlines and, depending on what you read, waiting lists are either falling or are worse than ever (A couple of links here as examples! NHS waiting list falls for third month in a row: https://lnkd.in/eCDB2BbP and The NHS hidden waiting lists https://lnkd.in/eg9c9z7W) I have no doubt that those working across the NHS, and wider healthcare system including Life Sciences, are doing all they can to get patients access to the treatments/services they need, as quickly as they can – but what are these methods and how do we know if they are working? Do you have any examples that you can share that demonstrate the reality of what's happening so we can try and and cut through the endless contradictory news stories?

📝 One of the principles of RED and of the NQF Safe Practice is that all patients should leave the hospital with a discharge plan. We call our discharge plan the “After Hospital Care Plan.” Visit the Project RED website to learn more about how the AHCP can benefit your patients. http://ow.ly/KNJM50OlCrr #ProjectRED #AHCP #patientcare #healthcare

Very informative article from the IFS highlighted by IHPN. We need to act now with long term, strategic approaches to tackling the problem of wait lists. #Healthcare #patientcare #NHS
The Institute For Fiscal Studies have released a report which sets out the scale of the challenge in tackling waiting lists and waiting times. You can read the report in full here: https://lnkd.in/eVdhmx2C We believe that today's report clearly shows the quite significant timeframes which will inevitably be involved in tackling NHS waiting lists, given their scale and extent. Now more than ever, it's crucial that we work collaboratively and strategically to address them. IHPN believes that the independent sector has a vital part to play in this effort, and is already playing a key role. However, what’s needed now more than ever is for everyone – the government, the NHS and the wider healthcare sector – to implement, and be committed to, long-term solutions. Our chief executive, David Hare MBE, feels that the NHS and Independent Sector need to work alongside each other for the best results. "Leveraging the expertise and capacity of independent providers can help alleviate pressure on the NHS and reduce waiting times for patients. But it’ll be most powerful with a long-term, joined-up approach that maximises the strengths of both sectors." “We are committed to working closely with the NHS and other stakeholders to develop innovative ways to deliver high-quality care to patients. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on waiting lists and ensure that patients receive the timely care they need."
