Be a Simplifier! A Simplifier is someone who can take a complex situation and explain it in the easiest way possible for everyone to understand. They don’t oversimplify; they start with the most basic organizing principles of an idea, then build in detail and complexity from there. It’s what I call a “School Pyramid.” I sometimes find myself in meetings where we’re discussing things at a Level 5, but not everyone there is a PhD student. The presenter should be able to explain the topic at everyone’s level, from Kindergarten to PhD. They should be a Simplifier. (Also I had to wear the “Naomi-ism hat for this one 🤭) #productivity #productmanagement #product

This is a core skill for any PM to have, can you please also share how to get better at this skill? What worked best for me was working on a deck that’s being presented to leadership (which needs to be simplified for fast comprehension) together with senior PMs, and learn how they approach it (each with a unique perspective).

It's an art to state the solution in variety of ways based on your audience. Reading the room is very critical before the delivery and adjust the course accordingly. For kicks check this out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsMIT25iPXk&ab_channel=WIRED

That’s also called being a content designer and we need more of them and we need to give them a voice in product strategy because content designers do just that: simplify through plain language and clear communication.

As one progresses on a project it goes through different phases of maturity till a inflection is seen in product. Do you have such an abstraction for a project?.

Love this concept and it’s been a great tool of measure to gauge my communication efficiency when leading cross functional alignment. Keep these coming!

Naomi Gleit I love this! I try decomposing the problem as much as I can but sometimes people find it hard to create relationships between the topics/ stages discussed. I normally try to draw out a visual diagram or use my hands to show a connection.

This is so profound Naomi Gleit Being able to lay down a complex problem in simple term is key character for a product leader. With simplification from my experience it increases: Engagement, Diverse ideation and Collaboration With that one may get a cheerleader who will become the advocate of your idea .
