Women Techsters Fellow (Class of 2024)| Transitioning into Cybersecurity | Data Analyst | Operations Management |
Day 95 ; of Cybersecurity training at Tech4Dev Women Techsters class of 2024 The past five days class has been on some sort of break. We are doing our capstone projects which provides an opportunity for us to showcase the skills and knowledge we have acquired during the 6-month training by addressing a real-world problem or issue. There is also a community service sort of project; a tech advocacy drive. This is being done in line with the Goal 5 of the United Nations Sustainable Goals, the International Women’s Day 2024 aims to promote gender equality by collectively advocating for women’s economic empowerment, the need for women inclusion in leadership, decision making roles, STEM careers and driving conversations aimed at removing cultural and societal barriers that hinder women from reaching their full potential. All these are being done in groups, with techsters of different tracks. Group dynamics have come into play. From the formation, storming, norming and achievement of set goals and objectives. The diversity in the groups is amazing and getting to contribute as a cybersecurity fellow is even more awesome. Personal learning has also not stopped, and I have been doing more labs to rubberstamp my foundational knowledge and even tried some CTF's which were scary at first, but I got the hang of it. Might get into one with a cash price. Getting good at making cybersecurity reports has been a highlight so far. Learning journey continues 💪 #Cybersecurity #careertransition

Happy International Women and Girls in ICT Day! Today we celebrate the incredible advancements and achievements of women and girls in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This day serves as a reminder of the importance of gender equality and the empowerment of women in the digital world. In recent years, we have seen a significant increase in the number of women pursuing careers in ICT. From computer programmers to cybersecurity experts, women are making their mark in this traditionally male-dominated industry. By breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes, these women are paving the way for future generations of female tech professionals. One of the key goals of International Women and Girls in ICT Day is to inspire and encourage young girls to pursue careers in technology. By highlighting the achievements of women in ICT and providing mentorship and support for young girls, we can help bridge the gender gap in this rapidly growing field. Women and girls bring unique perspectives and skills to the world of ICT. By increasing diversity in the tech industry, we can drive innovation and creativity, and ensure that technology reflects the needs and experiences of all people. As we celebrate International Women and Girls in ICT Day, let us continue to support and uplift the women and girls who are making a difference in the world of technology. Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable digital future for all. #womenintech #ICT #TechIndustry

Women Who Code shutting down is sad sign of the times. This community has been a constant support for me since before I embarked on my career in tech, significantly advocating for the inclusion of women in the industry. This is a stark reminder that we need more action and support from big corporations and society at large to help women thrive in tech. Its crucial that we create inclusive environments where women are encouraged, supported and are given equal opportunities to excel in their careers. In the meantime, here are a few communities you can rely on: 1. AnitaB.org 2. Women Techmakers 3. Women in Data Science (WiDS) Worldwide 4. "UN Women joins young women and girls globally who are putting a spotlight on leadership in the digital world. Girls’ leadership in Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is now more crucial than ever. To achieve full, equal and meaningful participation in ICT, young women and girls must have equal opportunities to learn digital skills and technology fundamentals, and accessible and quality education in ICT from an early age. As the convener of the Generation Equality Action Coalition on Technology and Innovation for gender equality, UN Women calls on all stakeholders to provide platforms where girls can design, develop and implement tech-driven solutions" I never in a million years dreamt of learning anything "cybersecurity" until I chanced upon a friend's watsapp status. It was a call for application to be a part of the CyberGirls 4.0 cohort sometime last year.Cybersafe foundation found me even when I had deleted all my socials except for watsapp. This particular friend in question hardly comes online but as I said "Cybersafe Foundation found me". I applied and fortunately got accepted even when I thought I had no chance. I won't lie, it has been quite overwhelming but this Fellowship have been pivotal in holding my hands as I start on my Journey of "curiosity".I have an amazing community that ensures I succeed and to aspire to challenge myself regardless of where I'm starting from. Celebrating International Girls in ICT means acknowledging the need for us to bridge the gap in the tech world by providing platforms for girls to have access to quality education in ICT at an early age as said by UN Women. The Cybersafe Foundation is not just honouring this by providing a platform, but they are establishing a community of resilient girls who are breaking barriers in the tech world. #proudCyberGirl #FutureCybersecurityLeader

Excellent to see this partnership forming to support #WomeninTech and #WomeninRegTech "An alarming lack of information and guidance has resulted in a mere 26% of tech roles being filled by women. Furthermore, only a limited number of teenage girls and young women are being encouraged to consider careers in tech, perpetuating the disparity". https://lnkd.in/gxsd9jzW REGnosys Next Tech Girls

What a pleasure to discuss with these 3 strong power ladies about Women in Tech. Thanks to Eva Maria Altmann, Anna Habenegg and Alice Sobolewska for your interesting insights in your daily work and your thoughts about what is needed for the future to create an even better framework to push diversity in the IT and Security domain. Thanks also to Sonja Wallner for some inspirational and authentic opening words. We all agreed that diversity is key and an essential success factor. Which also goes for security. Security is not a necessary evil but enables us to "feel the freedom while being safe & secure". We got encouraged to dare, to be bold and to believe in ourselves! In the end of the day what counts is qualification and not gender. It is up on us to create the framework within the company that everyone has the access to tech education and tech jobs. #empoweringdigitallife #diversity@A1 #securityiseverybodysjob
