Today marks the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings – the largest seaborne invasion in history, marking the beginning of the liberation of France and Western Europe.    We remember the service and sacrifice of all those involved in turning the tide in the Second World War.    JLR is privileged to be supporting the national commemorative events in Normandy and across the UK.  We’d like to thank the Royal British Legion for the opportunity to work with them and play a part in such a remarkable day.    35 members of JLR’s Armed Forces Community Network are playing a key role in helping to provide a door-to-door chauffeur service, so that as many WWII veterans as possible can participate in official commemorations.    Our former service personnel from more recent conflicts, serving reservists and family members from across the Armed Forces community have had the honour of chauffeuring Normandy veterans in our Defenders, including those who are wanting to return to France to make this poignant journey.    Being on the road together, our staff have been able to share a sense of camaraderie and watch them reunite with other veterans, as well as joining them as they pay tribute to the friends and comrades they lost.    The legacy left by all those who served from across the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, and the Allied Forces, lives on in the freedom and democracy we have today. #DDay80 #OurJLR #LestWeForget

So proud of this brilliant network and the company's culture that has enabled us to do this. The debt we owe these few remaining veterans will never be paid, but this week we've gone a long way to displaying that sense of gratitude and remembrance they deserve. Well done everyone!

As an Austrian, I feel a deep, bone-marrow-deep gratitude to every single soldier who had the incredible courage to risk his life to free us from our self-inflicted tyranny. Special thanks to the unknown American lieutenant who freed my grandfather from captivity to go home.

Thank you so much for supporting our incredible veterans
