A great article by Syngenta's Chris Chen on AI and Digital Solutions. Although Agriculture lags behind other industries in digitization, the impact of digital and AI is going to be huge, transformative and critical. Never have we had the ability to reach so many growers at scale and provide knowledge, advise, products and services, and access to markets like we have now with digital technologies. We are at the start of this journey, and it is already promising to shape a better future for arguably the most underserved part of the Asian population, the smallholder farmer. #SyngntaForSmallholders #aiinagriculture https://lnkd.in/gEed9_Tp

Transforming Agriculture: How CAPTURE Can Lead the Way Development Gateway: An IREX Venture : recent report, "Farmers Data Governance: Towards a New Paradigm," highlights key issues that are deeply relevant to the agricultural sector's current challenges. 1. Data Ownership & Privacy: Farmers are hesitant to share their data due to unclear ownership rights and privacy concerns. This hesitation hampers the potential for growth and innovation in farming practices. 2.Technology Gap :The digital divide is stark, with small-scale farmers lagging behind in adopting data-driven farming solutions, primarily due to lack of access and resources. 3. Lack of Standardization: Without standardized data formats, sharing and integrating data across platforms remains a daunting task, limiting the potential for collaborative growth and efficiency. Rural Farmers Hub understands these challenges, and our precision agriculture software, CAPTURE, is designed to tackle them head on. CAPTURE empowers farmers by protecting data privacy and ownership, bridging the technology gap with an easy-to-use interface, and encouraging data standardization for seamless platform integration. Our mission is to transform farming practices, making them more efficient, productive, and sustainable for all parties involved. We believe in the ability of technology to bridge the gap and propel the agricultural sector into a new era of innovation and prosperity. Join us at the "State of the Farm" 2024 Symposium to delve deeper into these issues and explore how CAPTURE can be the catalyst for change in the agricultural landscape. Let's sow the seeds of innovation together! RSVP Now and secure your spot to be part of this transformative journey. Agricultural production globally is inequitable, but countries are now prioritizing self-reliance after the pandemic, focusing on productivity, sustainability, and technological advancements. #Artificialintelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) can transform agriculture, from soil analysis to price forecasting and crop monitoring. Challenges include cost, awareness, trust, and infrastructure. The government aims to develop a digital ecosystem, while the private sector needs to innovate for financial viability and scalability. Public-private partnerships are important, but safeguards are needed to prevent data capture by a few stakeholders. https://lnkd.in/dMnwRNcN

Out of the world's 600 million farms, five out of six are small, covering less than two hectares each. Despite operating on only about 12% of agricultural land, these small farms produce roughly 35% of the world's food. The goal is to enable AI investments to have a significant impact and make AI accessible to everyone in the ecosystem, including academia, development agencies, governments, and agricultural enterprises, to empower farmers worldwide, starting with smallholders in the global south., Says this story by Sohini Bagchi of Mint/ Tech Circle. Please spend 5 minutes reading this story to understand more about akṣara’, the sector's first purpose-built open-source Micro Language Model (µ-LM) for climate-smart agriculture.

"You can’t solve a problem on the same level that it was created. You have to rise above it to the next level." - Albert Einstein No matter how many solutions we develop, use cases we explore, or AI models we introduce, the enormity of this problem is such that climate change continues to present new challenges. It is with this conviction that Cropin’s AI Labs team shares this AI-enabled development called Akṣara to empower farmers to be climate-smart, especially those in the global south. We need your support to ensure it reaches every farmer in the global south, as well as agronomists, agri-scientists, researchers, academia, and policymakers. Whether you're a farmer, agronomist, or technology enthusiast, this article is a must-read to understand the impact of technology on modern agriculture. I've been thinking about how industrial advances are historically linked to those in agriculture. At the risk of being an armchair sociologist, it is no coincidence that the rise of the steam loom, mass production, and digitisation emerged alongside crop rotation, the Haber-Bosch process, and the Green Revolution respectively. Now, futurists predict that advances in #AI and #ML will herald a #4thindustrialrevolution, fundamentally changing how we live and work. But what will define the "4th agricultural revolution"? In this piece, I look at some of the technologies that are pushing the boundaries of food production - from #precisionagriculture to #plantbreeding and beyond - as well as some of the legal and commercial considerations involved. https://lnkd.in/eZKasUuG
