(Just me reflecting on my way in to work) I am confident that the next decade will be a transformative period for Law Enforcement Technology, which I’ve started referring to as our “Technology Revolution.” Reflecting on the past decade, the advancements we've made are remarkable. Even in the last three years, the surge of new technology startups dedicated to Law Enforcement has been incredibly promising and encouraging. The police force shortage is a significant challenge that will persist for some time. However, we are adaptable and resilient. We will implement responsible and transparent deployment plans to overcome these challenges. The key is to be creative and innovative, recognizing that no two police departments are the same. My best advice to technology companies is to truly listen to our needs and inquiries. Think outside the box, but tread carefully. Straying too far from our expressed needs can give the impression that you are not listening, which can be frustrating. #rtcc #nrtcca #technolgy #policeivestigations

I always say that sometimes you have to think like a criminal to catch a criminal. Rex Heuermann was not just a serial killer but a monster. The evidence clearly shows he committed horrific acts. He meticulously planned and researched, even checking for cameras. During my daily commute, I listened to the “Lisk”Gilgo podcast by Shannon McGarvey. It’s a must-listen. Proud to call Shannon a friend and a very trust worthy person. Ultimately, Heuermann could be one of the worst serial killers in our history. This situation proves we need to be better. It went on for far too long, causing the loss of many innocent lives and destroying families because of this coward. #gilgo #lisk

Sometimes, we get so caught up in the details of an investigation that we lose sight of the bigger picture. But what if the solution is simpler than we think? What if it's already there in the data we have? This case is a great example of that. A seemingly insignificant parking summons led investigators to their target. It's a reminder that no query is worthless and that well-structured data is crucial to any department's solution. Had a great conversation with an old friend yesterday, and it got me thinking . Amber Cunha reminded me of a conversation we had almost three years ago, in which I expressed my desire to leave behind something that would make a difference in my Real Time Crime Center and the citizens of this great city . It's inspiring to know that she remembers that conversation, and it's a testament to the impact we can have on others. Amber is a prime example of someone who focuses not just on her everyday job in technology, but the people that she talks to on an everyday basis. It's a sad reality that in our profession, nothing is guaranteed. The recent killing of Police Officer Jonathan Diller who lost his life serving his city, is a painful reminder of this fact. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. It's heartbreaking to think that a child will never know their father because of a disgusting human being. I always tell my girls I will always kiss them good night no matter what time I come home after my tour. Hero's never die, and their memory should always be kept alive.
