Whether it’s volunteering at a foster care agency, food bank or participating in National Volunteer Week, we believe in giving back to the communities where we live and work. #MattressFirmGivesBack at Kids' Meals, Inc. ❤️
Our 2nd annual National Volunteer Week event as a team at Kids' Meals, Inc. was a success! Thank you to everyone who participated and to Mattress Firm for allowing us the opportunity to GIVE BACK! #mattressfirm#kidsmeals
🎁 Wrap Hope Together 🌟
Our client “Unmute Yourself” along with “Words Carry Weight” believe sin the power of giving back and making a difference in our community. That's why we came together and organized a toy wrapping event called “Wrap Hope Together”, which was a huge success!
This event served a dual purpose - not only did it bring awareness about the importance of giving back, but it also taught kids about empathy, kindness, and the value of being selfless. We believe that teaching these values at a young age is essential for building a better future.
But what made Wrap Hope Together truly special was our unique approach to marketing materials. We wanted to showcase a different spin on traditional tools by using them to document our community efforts. By doing so, we not only spread the message of giving back but also inspired others to do the same.
We would like to extend a big thank you to Commissioner Dunn of Lauderhill and the Lauderhill Fire Department for their incredible support. Your presence truly made a difference and helped us amplify the impact of “Wrap Hope Together”.
Working together as a community is key to learning about different cultures and fostering unity. We believe that by joining forces, we can create a brighter future for all.
Join us in making a difference today! 🌍💙

Mentoring has shown to help children with improved academic performance, increased self-esteem and confidence, development of a positive sense of self, a reduced risk of engaging in risky behaviors, and can help children learn how to build and maintain healthy relationships with their peers, family members, and other adults.
You can give all of this by spending a few hours a month with a child in need of guidance.

Volunteerism is down since the pandemic and we aren’t seeing as many people signing up to be a mentor these days. Help us out by tagging someone you think would be a great Big Brother or Big Sister in one of our social media posts (especially tag the guys because it’s mostly boys on our wait list). BigMentor.org
We had the opportunity to help out Food Bank of the Rockies packing up thousands of pounds of food. What an easy and great way to serve and help your people grow. Some say you should pay your team to show up and do the “service”, is it really service if your being paid? I prefer to tell my team we have scheduled a time to go serve, tell them they are all welcome to come and give back to their community.
It looks better for a photo op if you have a ton of your team there, but what does that do for building their character and building your team unity?
What do you think? Should you pay your team to show up or ask for volunteers of those who want to give back?

In the past, I shared and volunteered during Christmas without fully grasping the profound impact of the giving season itself.
Today, I find myself more aware than ever of the giving season's essence, having witnessed the incredible power of collective generosity.
Over the past 9 months, my journey with United Way of Massachusetts Bay has been eye-opening, emphasizing the urgent need for economic justice, particularly during these challenging times. The world is facing unprecedented hardships with widespread hunger and displacements, making our acts of giving more imperative than ever.
Amidst these challenging times, the imperative to give is not just a moral obligation but a collective responsibility. As global citizens, we are interconnected, and the well-being of one is inseparable from the well-being of all. This perspective, shaped by my mom, guides my actions.
Our acts of generosity have the potential to restore faith in the inherent goodness of humanity.
This season let's not merely give, but let's give with purpose and compassion. Together, we can create positive change, uphold the values taught by those who came before us, and bring hope to those who need it most.
With The Gratitude Project, I witnessed the profound influence of collective action Alicia AdamsonMirayah Rivera CheekMolly Cullen, a compelling reminder that our unity can fill empty plates and uplift those in need. Check out this recap video!
During National Volunteer Month we recognize our employees’ commitment to serving and supporting the communities where they live and work with #ActsOfGood.
Recently our Cincinnati employees teamed up with our longtime partner Matthew 25: Ministries to pack kits to bring cleaning and hygiene essentials like Always, Crest and Secret to people affected by natural disaster.
Do you know someone you know who is making a difference in their community?
We are once again partnering with Upworthy for the 2024 Acts of Good Awards to honor remarkable individuals helping their communities grow. Visit upworthy.com/actsofgood to fill out the nomination form before June 3 for a chance to support their cause.

Refreshed National Standards for Volunteer Involvement are out now!
The National Standards are a best practice framework to guide volunteer involvement. The National Standards can be used flexibly, recognising that volunteering takes place in highly diverse settings and ways.
All organisations and groups can implement the refreshed National Standards at any time.

Let's continue the Volunteer Appreciation topic with more ideas! As noted last week, acknowledging and recognizing the volunteers of your community or organization needs to be constant.
Consider these ways:
- List volunteers in the community newsletter
- Acknowledge a committee or particular volunteer at a Board meeting
- Hold a volunteer appreciation event
- Hang photos of the volunteers in the clubhouse
- Highlight the work and time with photos and videos at the annual meeting
What other ways do you acknowledge your volunteers?

You know what day it is: #MeetYourMatch Monday!
For those of you planning to attend as a FREE guest/ potential volunteer, please remember that we run from noon to 4 pm. When we say 4PM, be aware that we start packing up then. We have exactly an hour to clear up before the gym is turned over to the Youth Programs. If you show up at 3:55 and expect to take your time, you may be disappointed.
Also, be aware that we can't control parking. The YMCA is still operational during our volunteer fair, so they will have their usual traffic, plus us. Are you taking the bus? You're good.
If you are attending as a participant in the fair, please note that we have access to the gym starting at 11. You have an hour to set up, and an hour to pack up and cede the gym to its regularly scheduled activities, so please plan your display accordingly. Being considerate guests means being thorough and time-aware. It's a volunteer fair, not Laser Floyd.
Any difficulties, please seek out one of the friendly Volunteer Peterborough members, who will happy to help you out.
We are really, really looking forward to this. We want everyone to have a great experience, and sometimes that means planning ahead.
