Hispanic & Latino Heritage Month Employee Spotlight - Meet Angie Sterling, Export & Domestic Order Specialist!
What is your favorite Latino tradition?
My Latino heritage is an integral part of my identity, deeply rooted in my Colombian background. Even when I'm abroad, my cultural roots serve as a constant reminder of my origins. Colombia is a land rich in love, happiness, family, diversity, and culinary delights.
Special Occasions and Traditions:
Birthdays in my family are celebrated in a unique way. I am awakened early in the morning to the melodious strains of "Las Mañanitas," a traditional song. This is followed by a feast featuring my favorite dishes, encapsulating the essence of joy and happiness. It's a testament to how the simplest moments can become the most cherished memories.
Favorite Foods:
My go-to comfort foods are undoubtedly empanadas and arepas, both of which are staples in Colombian cuisine.
Cultural Sayings:
A popular saying in my culture is "Lo que no mata, engorda," which translates to "That which does not kill, fattens." This phrase is often used humorously when food falls on the ground, suggesting that the worst outcome is gaining a few extra pounds—which isn't so bad when the food is delicious.
