Do sponsorships work? Spoiler alert, they do. But do they work for branches of the US military, which has different goals/objectives than a consumer brand? That’s a different question. The goal of #MilitaryMarketing is to reach a targeted audience, and sponsorships provide a unique platform to do so. Sports, specifically, mirrors the military values of camaraderie and teamwork, creating a natural fit. But, the effectiveness of these sponsorships depends on the execution. Raise your hand. Who can explain the role the US Coast Guard played in last week's #NFLDraft? The Coast Guard plays a pivotal role in securing major events, including the NFL Draft. Military involvement in major events is mostly behind-the-scenes -- as is the majority of military service in general. Much like a long snapper on an NFL team, you may only pay attention to the military when something goes sideways. This unsung service is exactly what presents a unique opportunity for brands and agencies. Recognizing aspects of military service and the military lifestyle is the most direct path to connecting with one of the country's largest consumer segments -- as segment that runs 40M+ strong and spends $1.4T at cash registers annually. The NFL Draft is one of many examples where the military step in, unnoticed, and does their job. That same NFL Draft was also a platform to recognize military service. USAA did a good job of doing just that. Why are they the only brand at this party? Whether it's through military observances on the calendar or through cultural events, there are many opportunities for brands to proactively reach a new consumer group. Saying "thank you" while increasing brand metrics among a fiercely loyal consumer segment? Sounds like a solid growth strategy to me. How stacked is your team? How would your #1 stack up against others #1? How about your #2 and son on? Where do you have someone hitting out of order? Meaning they are your 6th force ranked leader who happens to be accountable for your highest volume responsibility? Assess where you are content with your lineup and where their are gaps. Determine if you can coach up the gaps or need to shift them to a more responsible volume responsibility or replace them altogether. 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲: The Ikigai message really hit home with people now implimenting it in their daily lives and forward decision-making choices. Business to business was booming with many of the organisations securing new interests and orders. People received so much assistance from the coaching, cv and industry guidance. Members received free training, raffle prizes, pizza, new headshots, and so much more. The value from the GDN events is hard to quantify due to the knock of impact beyond the day. Below is the planned outline for the future of GDN events and why. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: The GenDitNetwork is not a recruitment company, it's more than that. It is there to connect the community and bring purpose and value to all attendees. I organise these events in my spare (personal & family) time, which can put unnecessary pressure on parts of my life. So this has driven the next decision. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: One big quality event per year. Same time, around the GDN birthday of 19th March. Same place, Bristol Ashton Gate Stadium. A different theme each year. Traction and value will grow each year. People can plan their diaries way in advance. 𝐒𝐨.. 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫? Ive already found a way to improve from this year. Very exciting times.
